College Bakery Not the cake we ordered, They Even Spelt the Name Wrong! Stockton California
" We have been voted THE RECORD'S BEST OF SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY IN 2001, 2002 AND 2003."
This is the slogan advertised on the home page of the College bakery, which would cause you to have some confidence in the establishment when searching for a decent cake. Apparently there is a reason why they are no longer the winners of that title, and havent been for the last 4 years. Their skills in my opinion, are more than lacking! I searched all over town for a transformer cake for my son, I wanted a good one, and cost wasn't an issue. They are difficult to find right now, most stores are barley ordering the topers and stencils. Well they happen to have them, and they appeared to be a creditable bakery. Their prices were high enough so I assumed I would at least get a decent cake. I ordered a half sheet cake. I even asked to speak to the designer; he assured me it would look great, blue background, with red flames, sounded real nice'. It was the ugliest cake I have ever seen!! Without exaggerating I can make a better cake at home, which I should have considered. It looked nothing like the very basic picture; the flames looked like someone dropped something on it, or took a butter knife and quickly tried to create a pitch fork. But the very worst part was, his name was incorrect. The writing was so ugly and weird we thought he wouldn't notice, but unfortunately he did. I called to complain, they didn't beleive me, and of course I have pictures of what it should and doesn't look like, and should and didn't say... They offered me 20, then 40% off my next purchase they can keep their discounts, because I will never spend another cent there again. And would never recommend anyone else to., beware if you take the risk, you pre-pay everything.
