Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I got a call from this company telling me that my son had signed up for their SAT study program at his high school. They knew his name, his graduation year and the name of the school he attended.

I argued at first that I don't think he did request the program but the guy I talked to (Jim Wilson) kept asking me if I didn't think that extra help in getting a good SAT score would be beneficial.

I was told it would cost $119.99 and that if my son didn't use it OR it did not help him at all that we could return it for a full refund. I asked him if he guaranteed me that I wouldn't have to beg for my refund and his response was "refunds are processed within 5 business days of the receipt of the CD.

I sent it back FedEx on Aug. 28th and it was signed for by B. Bernie on the 29th. Check for yourself...my tracking number is 791535992590.

On Sept. 12th I started calling. Shannon Brown first told me that they had not received the CD back. When I gave her the name of the person who signed for it she put me on hold for several minutes. When she came back the CD had been found. Supposedly they had moved during that two week period and it was misplaced.

She told me that she would fill out refund request and that I should have my refund either later that day or first thing the next day.

I called twice or more everyday for days. If you did get an answer it was to leave a message in a mailbox, then the mailbox would be full and you couldn't leave a message OR if you did get lucky enough to be able to leave a message, no one ever bothered to call back.

I tried faxing a letter and got a call from a John Miller who told me that my CD had not been received until Sept. 26th and that it had been opened so I was not entitled to a refund.

EXCUSE ME...how do I know if I am satisfied with a product if I can't take it out of the package.

BUT..the best part is...I never opened it. It was in the same packaging I had received it in.

When I argued that they told me it was damaged. Well, you know what, if it was damaged then they sent me a CD that someone else had returned to them and got ripped of the $120 for.

I have filled a report with the Attorney General's office in California.

The College Prep Center responded like the dumb asses they are with documentation that they indeed tell you that you can return it for a full refund if you are not satisfied in 30 days. They actually sent a copy of what they read to you promising the refund. But in another letter they say "included in this fax is a copy of the information included with the CD's. They clearly state that once the product has been opened it is no longer in a resalable condition and is therefore not returnable".

So answer me this...how was I supposed to see that piece of information without opening the CD to start with?

I have contacted the news shows and asked them to do a show on these jerks.

We need to get these b**tards!!!!!

I received a response for the complaint I filed with the California Attorney General's office. They are telling me that ONE complaint is not a justification for an investigation but that they would keep my complaint on file and "IF additional complaints about the company come to our attention that would indicate an investigation is necessary....then that action will be taken at the appropriate time." SO....here is the case number you can refer to PIU: 140815. Send your complaints to: S. Regaldo Public Inquiry Unit State of California Department of Justice P.O. Box 944255 Sacramento, CA 94244-2550 916-322-3360 or 800-952-5225 A lot of people have to complain so that something will be done.

The customer service line that customers are required to call in order to return the merchandise within the trial period is plays a recording that says that the line is only staffed from 8AM to 4PM PST. There is no way to leave a message, no hold queue and often requires numerous tries to reach anyone. This makes it very difficult to return the program during the trial period. The company's fax number is 619-668-2232 and if you save the transmission verification report from your fax machine will provide proof that you did indeed contact the company within the trial period. This will enable you to have the charge reversed on your credit card by calling your card company. Enough complaints will cause this company to loose the privilege of accepting credit cards and put them out of business. The corporate name for this company is The College Prep Center, Inc. California corporation # C2591798. The agent of process and mailing address listed for them with the state of California is: John Joseph Stuart 8130 La Mesa Blvd #134 La Mesa, CA 91941 This is the address of a mail box company. A representative for the mail box company said that they are not authorized to accept service for the company at this address. (I beleive that this is a violation of CA corporate law.) The actual address that they operate from is: 8270 La Mesa Blvd #708 La Mesa, CA 91941 They operate their business approximately 2 blocks from the offices of the LA Mesa Police Department. You can reach the La Mesa police at 619-667-1400. The phone number listed on their business license from the city of La Mesa is disconnected.
