I have worked very hard at going into debt. After reading the numerous complaints about this school, and the rebuttals, I can honestly say I agree with most of the underdogs and some of the rebuttals. My experience wasn't so much that I received a bad education, it's just that Arizona employers do not hire anyone with the name of that school on their resume. In addition to looking for a job during a recession, I unwittingly provided information that would send my resume into the trash can. There's only a small remaining balance on my student loan and it would be great if the Federal Trade Commission could wipe it off of my credit report. But I can understand why so many former students are filing for bankruptcy because they were duped by the sales representatives and ended up enrolling into an program which was unrealistic for them to finish, leaving them with huge debts. I lost my job shortly after enrolling at this school but this allowed me to spend up to 30 hours a week outside of class and make straight A's. Unfortunately many employers don't want to hire anyone from that school because of their horrible reputation. One of my main reasons for enrolling was for the job placement assistance which was horribly misleading. The assistance consisted only of classified listings which anyone could have found by themselves. Virtually no employers call Collins College for employee recruiting.
I recommend that anyone suffering from debt problems to get the name of the collections agency handling your debt and file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. Many of these agencies are pure evil and the laws may be more on your side than you think. Especially if they harass you. It is possible to get such debt eliminated.
