CONFIDENTIAL SHOPPING INC. I checked with the bank and they immediately said that it is a scam. NW MINOT North Dakota
I received a letter from a company named confidential shoping inc. along with a cashiers check for $4985.00 on the letter it said to call the number they provided for detailed instructions. I called and talked to a woman named Lisa Scott she told me to deposit the check, wait for the money to clear then call them for more details.
I asked them why couldn't they give me the details then but she said because it was confidential information. I asked if I could just cash the check she said that it is too much money and the check cashing places wouldn't cash it. I guess she felt I was asking too many question so she told me to call the number on the cashiers check to verify funds.
When I called the number on the cashiers check it only said "thank you, good bye" and hung up. I then went on-line and look the bank up, found a number for it and called I talked to them, they knew immediatly what I was talking about and the amount the cashiers check was for then she went on to say it was a scam and that the police is investigating.
I went a step further and called my local non-emergency police department they contacted me with the fraud department. They said as long as I don't cash the check nothing can happen. If anyone else has gotten anything like this I would recomend ask many questions and check the company completely before doing anything.
