We have had Continental Warrenty for a year and six months now.  We have used them one time.  It was to change a flat tire at a gas station who's air machine was broken.  It was a new, to me, mini van and I did not know how to get the tire out from underneath the van.  I know now.  This was the first time.

Our van was making a loud unusual noise when we took it to the shop the machanic told us it was the water pumpThe barrings in the water pump were burned up and the water pump was not working at all.  They fixed it then contacted Continental Warrenty.  Our portion of the payment is $100.00 and Continental Warrenty Company pays the rest of the bill.

The cost was $286.00, we pay 100.00 and they pay 186.00.  Continental said they will NOT cover their portion of the cost because the vehicle was not leaking water.    The machanic said by the time you have water leaking you probably warped the heads, cracked the heads or cracked the block any of these problems would put you out of a vehicle for awhile.

Continental Warrently is willing to pay for a $2000.00+ repair for a cracked engine block but would not pay the portion of $186.00 for the water pump that was caught before it left my children and I stranded on the side of the road with a overheated, cracked engine block.

When it comes right down to it.  We didn't get to the cracked block to even file that type of claim.  But....what would the excuse be if it had reached that point.  Certainly then, Continental Warrently would have blamed me for letting it get to that point before taking it to a garage to find out what the noise was.

We called to cancel our policy, they are supposed to fax a form to me to fill out, because you have have to summit in writing on their form to cancel a policy.  We were told it would take three or four months to get stop our contract with them.  Well now we wait.

If the bearings of the water pump are making noise, it needs to be replaced as the mechanic stated, if you wait until it leaks then overheating can cause serious engine damage.

I bet if you would have waited until coolant was leaking they would have denied the claim stating it was your "negligence" that caused the catastrophic damage.

Good move to cancel this rip off policy and warn others.
