Just let me say that I was a total idiot to fall for such a scam as this. I have done business with Broderbund for many years and thought they were on the up and up, but I was mistaken. I find out that they sell my name and information to a fly by night rip off company that calls and represents itself as Crystal Vision an affliate of Broderbund.

They say that they have software and printer ink at a fraction of the price that you can get it in the stores and from other online companies. Of couse, I fell for it. They want to send you a 30 program CD as appreciation for your paid 30 day trial membership to a so-called online catalog.

Ok, not bad enough, I bought it and was told to go look around on the homepage until I could sign in to start shopping in 24 hours. They gave me a code to sign in with, but I can't even open the page at all, so what good would a code do me if you can't even get to the site.

Next, I was told that I could talk to a humam being any time I call this number (800-444-1343) LIE!!!! I was told that I could get, for example, printer ink for a fraction of the cost that I pay now and that they would not be refilled cartridges, they would be brand new. That was the first thing I asked before agreeing to the trial and giving out my credit card. STUPID!!!!

Now, I had second thoughts after I got off the phone and called right back to the number I was given not 10 minutes earlier, and SURPRISE, no one answered. Got a recording. Did some investigating and found this site and found that I have been ripped off big time.

Now, trying to get someone on the phone to no avail. I have called three different phone numbers for all the companies that show up on a cached site I can find online, no answer at any of them. Get an answering machine with the same speel from the same lady. Our office is close and our hours are blah, blah, blah!

I did write them an email and told them all this and that I did not want their services and that I knew that they were scammers and that I have reported them.

Please, EVERYONE, be very careful what you agree to on the phone. I am usually very careful and never agree to any of this kind of thing, but when they said they were with Broderbund, someone I have dealt with many times in the past, I trusted them. WRONG!!!

This company has called my business for months several times a day. No one is ever there on the phone. It interrupts my business in talking with my customers. Finally, late last night they called again. Someone was there. She stated she was calling in behalf of Broderbund because I let them know that I was interested in further info from Broderbund. This was true as I did want to know when software was reduced, either on sale or clearance. Microstar Crystal Vision claimed they were the "Star Ship" over Broderbund. (a lie) Which to me meant they owned Broderbund. I kept telling the girl I was not interested and how annoying their calls are. She hung up. Immediately I contacted Broderbund via email to verify their info. Here is what Broderbund told me. "Microstar Crystal Vision is a partner of Broderbund but they are not part of our company. (Sounds like I was sold to a 3rd party) If you would like to contact Microstar Crystal Vision you can call 1-800-777-4228 to let them know that you want to be removed from their calling lists." I called this number and it is customer service. However, they were unable to get to my call and to leave a message because they were busy. 1. If you buy from Broderbund make sure you let them know you do not want 3rd party calls or to be sold to any of their partners. 2. Make sure you do this! Otherwise you too will get these annoying calls!

Having signed up with CV, there was no mention of any charges at all for the monthly CD's which, in my opinion are poorly made, provide little useful information and the ink co doesn't even stock my type of cartridge. The company has a very unsatisfactory with the BBB. I urge anyone reading this site NOT to touch them. I have written four letters and tried their customer services line to no avail. They are a bunch of rip of merchants

I have been a customer of ShopCV for the last six months. I haven't had any trouble contacting the customer service department at all. They have been very helpful in helping me find products on the internet that are on competitors websites. Although their ink prices may be the same, if not sometimes higher, I find it more convenient to shop on-line than stand in line at the store(s). Finally, this complaint dates back to April of 2005. If that is the most recent complaint, that is pretty darn good for SHOPCV. Jessica
