While reviewing my on-line bank statement I noticed a withdrawal (by bank card) for $139.95. There was no entry showing the name of the customer on the report. Only a telephone number was on the report. That number is: 888-868-6216.

I called that number and was eventually connected to a female who identified herself as "Yesnia, I.D. #10237. The company(??)was identified as "dealpass" After much discussion she stated that on June 5th, 2003, they sent out a letter to me informing me that my subscription was up and that they would be charging my bank card in the near future if I did not tell them otherwise. I have never belonged to this subscription, to the best of my knowledge.

She stated that my money would be refunded within the "next two statement cycles. I told her that this was unacceptable to me. They had charged my account, without my permission and I wanted it refunded to my account immediately. At this time she stated, again after much discussion, that I should receive a credit to my account within the next five to seven days. All of this took place at approximately 0845 this morning, July 10, 2003.

I, of course, don't know what happened in your particular case. But from the looks of it this company SUCKERS MOST PEOPLE in by offering the $1.00 trial membership. And what information must a person provide this good company in order to pay the $1.00 and take advantage of the trial: A CREDIT/DEBIT CARD NUMBER OR BANK ACCOUNT NUMBER. After that, "the low yearly membership fee is automatically charged to the billing source authorized by you." I'm sure most of us would NOT view $139.95 to be low! What a RIP! From the DealPass site: Is there a trial membership period? How does it work? You can enroll in a 30-day trial membership period for just $1. During your trial period, you can use the program benefits as much as you'd like. If you find the service is not for you, call us before the end of the trial period, toll-free (you'll be supplied a phone number when you enroll), and you won't be charged anything more. If you wish to continue with your membership after the trial period you agreed upon, the low yearly membership fee is automatically charged to the billing source authorized by you.
