On July 12, 2007, I purchased a brand new Dell Dimension E521 computer. However, from the beginning the computer would not accept my printer driver. The printer worked just fine on the prior computer using XP as is also installed on the Dell as the operating system. However, the computer does not have an RS232 connector for the printer, therefore, I am limited to using the USB connector. When I tried to select the port, the computer does not even offer a USB port as an option. I called Canon the maker of the copier who suggested that I contact Dell. Well at Dell, first I had to talk to an operator to be directed, after giving her all my information, I was directed to a hardware customer service person. That person claimed she knew nothing of the problem and that it was a software problem. I was then directed to the sales department who stated if I wanted someone to help me connect their computer to my printer I would have to buy a service contract, although, the computer came with a one year warranty! It became quite obvious that "Omar" who works in the sales department is only interested in repeating the company line. How is it that Dell sells computers that don't work and then expect you to pay them to make it do what it should have done in the first instance. Thank for Dell for the first hand lesson about how you conduct your business. I am only thankfull that I only purchased one computer, instead of the six more I intend to purchase for my office.
