End of story. After reading deb's......story, you may have some apprehensions about bringing your pet to dr scott Demanes. Now it is doctor's scott and Addison Demanes, and no two finer doctors exist. Not only are they by far the best animal surgeons in the area, but they truly do care. I have been bringing my animals to dr. Demanes for almost 20 years, and not only are they extremely accommodating throughout the whole process, but he buried my pets that have passed, r.i.p, on his own property, along with everyone else who doesn't have room, he took it upon himself to make it right.
Multiple times after midnight I met him at the clinic to console and discuss further proceedings with my pets. These people are true professionals. Deborah is a bitter, disgruntled employee, trying to ruin someone's business, to no avail, and if you read further she retracts her statements and commits to pay any money to have her comments removed. Please have no hesitations bringing your pets here, they will receive nothing but the best care. There is a lot of experience in that clinic. I have had them operate on anything from my iguana to my dog. Outstanding, people who really know what they're doing

I switched vets a few years back to Demanes Animal Hospital and have never been happier. The staff shows true concern over the animals and the time they take explaining things is outstanding. I have noted that they, along with every other vet, try to get you to add costly things to your bill. Teeth cleaning seems to be a big one. I have never yet had a dog that I paid over $300 to clean their teeth. My last dog lived to be 15 years old. I have heard this comment from others as well that I know take their animals there. One other retiree I know of had an elderly dog where they tried to talk him into teeth cleaning. He told them that since the dog is so old and has other conditions, it was probably best to just let the doctor put him to sleep. They stopped bothering him. People living on fixed incomes can not afford such extras and all vets should quit pushing people to pad the bill. Still, I believe this vet to be one of the best in Peoria and I would not hesitate to recommend him.

I have been taking my animals to Dr. Demanes for twenty years - even before he opened his animal hospital.
He has transfused blood from his own dog to try to save mine on one occasion. On another, he met me at his clinic at 2:30 a.m. to examine another one of my dogs that was seriously ill. He could have just told me to go to All Pets Emergency, but he didn't.
And on the most difficult times of all, he came to my house twice to euthanize my pets to spare them and me physican and emotional pain.
I can't believe anything other than you are a disgruntled employee who ought to be ashamed of herself.

Ever since I moved to Peoria, I have gone to Demanes.
I have seen this review before, years ago, and always wanted to rebutt it. I always found it without basis. After years of their great service, I feel I can rebutt it with substance behind my comments.
I have taken all of my animals there for the past three years now, including lots of crisis periods - a 15 yr old cat with a UTI, a 12 yr old dog with glaucoma and torn ACL, and another puppy.
Their staff has always been suportive and helpful, and most of all, always professional. Many shared their personal experiences when my dog's eye had to be taken out due to glaucoma - they referred me to the vet school in Champaign, but I had them do it instead of the vet school and was very happy with the love the whole staff showed my dog!
I would not go anywhere else in Peoria and I have the vet records to prove it.

When I got my puppy I started going to Demanes. My grandma became ill and I needed to go out of town a few weekends. I noticed that my puppy would have swelling around his eyes, I later found out it was medication they were giving him to basically sedate him. I then found out that when I would leave him there for the weekends they were giving him a sedative. When I confronted them about doing this, they gave me the reasoning that he was barking....well he is a dog and dogs will bark. I had enough when I brought him home and for the next 24 hours laid around the house like a zombie. I figured they just did not want to deal with him there. The next time I had to be out of town I took him to Case animal hostpital and explained what had happened. One of the vet techs is a patient of my boyfriend. He said that our puppy was normal and they had absolutly no problem with him and didnt understand why they were giving him medication at Demanes. I felt like at Demanes they did not really care about my dog at all. The last time I picked him up from Demanes another lady was coming in to pick up her dog and they were telling her the same thing.....that they had to give him this medication because of the way he was acting. I found it a little ironic.....Then when I asked to speak to someone about the allergic reactions to the medication they were giving my dog, a lady came out that was very rude. I do not appreciate being talked to like a 2 year old getting scolded. If they were treating my dog the way they treated me then I am extremly happy I got him away from that place.

We have taken ur pet to this office for a couple of years now and have dealt with only kind, friendly individuals. Though I don't personally know the Dr. and have never been employed by them, I find Deborah's statements impossible to believe. Our pets are members of our family and we would never take them to a vet. office where there was even a slim chance they would be scared or mistreated. I have heard from other pet owners who also take their pets to this office of how well the personnel treat their pets; of how they help with stray animals; of the overall positive atmosphere of this office. I think there are definate questions that need to be posed to the individual who made this complaint. Based on what you have stated to be true: * Why would you have worked at this office for a number of years? (yes, there were other jobs available during that time frame that you indicate you were employed) * Why would you take your own cat there if what you state is true? (if it's because you received some sort of employee discount, that raises many other questions for you personally) * Why would you state that you had to do other jobs that weren't in your job description? (that would indicate either laziness or failure to be a team player) * Why, in any online or other public forum, regardless of whether it was true or false, would you state the name of someone's child? (as a parent, I find that to be an invasion of privacy to involve any family member of such a young age) My conclusion: You were angry when you left and sought revenge. Which, of course, was futile, as anyone who has ever been associated with is office will disagree with you entirely.

...it's libel. And when I see a written request to have the comments removed, my first thought is that the vet has threatened to sue the author and she can't prove a thing she is saying. That doesn't mean she isn't telling the truth. It only means she doesn't have witnesses. As for beating a dead dog, it's definitely strange, but the dog was already dead. Not saying it really happened. Just saying dead is dead.

I am a pet care giver. A few of my clients are also clients of the Demanes Animal Hospital. As a concerned care giver, I have always asked my clients what they think of their current vet, groomer, ect. I have had nothing but happily greatful responses about Demanes. Everyone has had nothing but good (if not great) things to say about this place. I give "Pet Taxi" services (rides for people that need to go to the vet, groomer, kennel, ect.) and sometimes I stay and wait. This was one of my clients vet of choice, and witnessed great care, kind concern, and *gasp* quick service. Another time, a friend of mine asked me to take his cat there. Again, they took very good care. I am in no way part of nor affiliated with this vet. I have absolutely nothing to do with this company other than sharing clients. I share clients with many, many other vets as well as groomers, trainers, ect. So I show NO favoritism. I am very appalled that someone took the time to write such a slanderous report. I do so hope that this does not keep anyone from taking their pets there. Dr. Demanes and his staff are all highly recommended people.

Dr. Demanes is by far one of the best vet's in the Peoria area he is kind, caring and compassionate. I can't believe that a disgrunted employee would try to hurt someone's business in that sort of manner it just isn't right and the person who filed this claim should be sued by the vet clinic for slander and defamation of character.

If someone is still getting good service from Demanes Animal Hospital, then by all means, continue to go there. If you start having ANY problems, LEAVE quickly! I have heard many bad things from ex-customers who recognize me and have stopped me at stores and in public areas. I have also heard neutral comments from customers who continue to go there. Both were not wanted and I walked away quickly. I am no longer wanting to even think of that place again or hear about anything that is still going on there. So please people, if you see or recognize me because I had worked there, I don't need to know any details or problems or any news about Demanes Animal Hospital, clients or employees. Thank you.

First off I am a customer of Dr. Demanes' and have never been employed there, so my comments do not reflect any insider knowledge, or behind the scenes experience. With that being said, I find the original posting to be very hard to believe. Both family pets from my childhood, and my own dog now have been treated by Dr. Demanes and his staff. I have nothing but the highest praise for the professionalism, level of care, and overall customer service we recieve. Each and every time our pets have visited his office they return to us as happy and eager as ever. Our dog harbors no fears of the vet's office, and actually seems to enjoy her visits (probably because of the friendliness of each staff member, and the treats she gets!) Although I can't speak as an employee, as a customer I would highly recommend Demanes Animal Hospital for the care of your pets, and I will continue to take my animals there in the future. It is my experience that nearly every employee of Dr. Demanes' is truly an animal lover, and if the original report was true these employees would have left a long time ago. I sincerely hope that Dr. Demanes does not lose business simply because the first result for his office when googled is the anonymous posting of an unhappy ex-employee. Peter, Peoria, IL

I worked for Dr Scott Demanes for 13 years and found him to be a great veterinarian to work for. The person who has filed this report is not a very credible person when it comes to how this clinic functioned. The inflamatory remarks she has made are far from the truth. She had no real knowledge of why the two veterinarians had to decided to leave this practice. One important fact she forgot to mention was that these two doctors where also a couple who had found working together had placed a strain on their relationship. Important factor when it came to leaving. Not ran off by Dr Demanes. Her so called animal abuse comments where justly uncalled for. In the 13 years I worked at Demanes Animal Hospital, Dr Demanes went above his call of duty when it came to animal care. Hundreds of abandoned cats and dogs found wonderful homes thanks to Dr Demanes and his staff. Another comment the acuser forgot to mention. As for her comments on lack of treatment due to lack of funds, also not true. He and his staff went out of their way to accomodate the clients and patients. Bills were discounted, animals treated for a fraction of the cost. Many times I had broken our policy on "No charging" and let clients charge due to circumstances upon approval from Dr Demanes. What she did not mention is that everyone doesn't see their pets in the same light and that proper care isn't in their finacial means or that they just don't want to treat their pet. It is easy to make those comments when her pet care was greatly discounted. I also find her comments made in reference to the "Beating of a dead dog" appaling. I am sure he was upset on the death of the pet. Once again, the acuser not knowing the whole story fabricated her own version. As for her claims on other situations, such as her pet. There is not a better surgeon in the Peoria area that can match the skills of Dr Demanes. Over the 13 year period I worked for him I saw him perform several miracles on injured pets. His surgical skills are unmatched. What the acuser has also failed to mention is that certain pets react to surgery in different ways. One of our cats pain threshold is 0 and she took longer to heal, not because of surgical procedured Dr Demanes used. In conclusion, I find all these accusations unjustly called for. I spent alot of time at Demanes Animal Hospital and have not seen any finer care of animals given anywhere. The person making these claims was treated fairly throughout her tenure at this hospital and was not asked to do anything other employees weren't asked to do. Her performance in any other job would of lead to her dismissal, but Dr Demanes always gave her a fair chance. I don't believe a person's reputation should be ruined based on a unhappy employee's false comments. I find her comments just as ignorant as a website designed to hurt people's reputation based on false claims. I would not of worked for Dr Demanes for 13 years if these comments were true. It was a very difficult decesion to make when l left Demanes Animal Hospital to pursue a career in nursing. I feel today as I did back then that Dr Demanes and his staff are some of the greatest animal caregivers in the world despite the comments made by this Deborah.
