I was browsing the internet for cars and I happen to input my information into the databases of a few car dealerships in the area. I was just checking to see what was available. A few days later a salesman called my on my sell phone.

Knowing that I had bad credit and that I would not get a approved, I tried to explain to the salesman he was wasting his time.I knew what type of car I was looking for and he told me no problem, i would be able to pick and choose what I wanted. He of course persisted and told me that he would run my credit report and that he was certain that I would get approved.

Mind you I am not nieve. I knew how bad my credit was, but falling into the trap I went to the dealership. The man I had spoken to on the phone came out and led me to some cars. He said unfortuntaly I couldn't get you a maxima, but here are some nice sentra's. Needless to say I wasn't impressed with the selection he offered me.

I reluctantly drove the Sentra and it wasn't bad it was an upgrade from my old car. After the test drive I went into the office to begin negotiations. 3 hours later he comes back and tells me. He couldn't get me in the Sentra but he found something better. A Pontiac Grand-Am. Right year, nice model, low miles, great price. I said I would take it.

I drove home in the new car leaving my old car with them. Yes, I was informed that I was still subject to approval. No biggie. After waiting two weeks and after the dealership had already cashed two of my checks for $900. They call me on the phone and tell me I've been approved, come down and finish filling out the paperwork.

Now this is where I get really upset and offended by there treatment. I show up at the dealership and I sit and wait for 1 1/2 hours before anyone comes to talk to me. A salesman finally does and asks me do I have a co-signer and can I put more money down. After writing checks in the amount of $2300. I wasn't about to put anymore down. I asked him, I thought I was already approved? He said you have been but not for this car. I sat and waited another half hour before a finance director comes up and tells me.

You have been approved for $10,000 so since you can't put down anymore money, you have the choice of taking this Impala or this neon we have. I asked is there anymore options that would be close to the Pontiac. He got indignant and told me with your really bad credit this is all I can offer.

I told him I was not happy and I don't like any of those cars. He got angry and told me that I need to give the Impala a chance after with the piece of crap car I had now I would be better off.

I took it for a test drive. Was not really happy but I understood that with my credit this would probably work in my favor. I agreed and he began filling out paperwork. I went and took my stuff out of the Pontiac.

I waited an additional 30 minutes and no one came back over. So I went to go find him. I found him outside talking on his cell phone in Spanish to his girlfriend. He told me my car was out front and that I can just get out of here. I asked why? what Happened? He said you weren't approved so take my car and go.

I was concerned about the money and the checks I had put down. He told me to come back tomorrow I couldn't get it tonight. With no other explanation I did not know where my car was, Where the keys where anything. I asked again and he just acted annoyed that I was asking. He screamed it's out front.

I walked out to my car and I noticed the licence plates were missing. He was still talking on the cell phone and I asked him. He said they were on the seat. Knowing I couldn't drive home like that. I got down on my hands and knees in a skirt trying to screw on the licence plate with my fingers in the dark. NO ONE at anytime offered to help. I had to wind up driving home without my plates on because I couldn't put them on.

I then had to show proof that they even took money from me before they would issue MY MONEY BACK. I waited almost a week to get my money back.

So at what point in the sale does the dealer have the right to mistreat the buyer? The answer is at NO POINT should I be mistreated. I am the consumer. The one who puts you in business. Without the consumer you have a lot full of cars collecting dust.I, the consumer, can take rejection well, can understand the fact the you could not finance.I will not take rude comments, long waits, being lied too, or being scammed. I, the consumer, will not take discrimination because I have bad credit, or because I am a female.

You, the dealer, should be aware that the percentage of women who are consumers has grown and the percentage of people in debt has grown. So who are you selling to? The 2% of the population who are male and have superior credit. Good luck on staying in business.

Please research the dealership before making any type of decision that involves your money.

As a side note: Upon recieving my check for $900. The dealer tried to give me the line, "Gee I'm sorry but if you just put another $1400 down we can get you in the Impala". I smiled and said, "No thank you". What I didn't tell him is that I had just won $3400 on Saturday and was going to take the $900 I got back from him and buy a car elswhere. " So sorry to Desert for losing a sale".
