I have a 2004 Jeep Liberty Sport and it has been nothing but a pain. I have had constant electrical problems. I have had them fixed over and over and it is still the same problem. I have a turn switch that keeps shorting out. So I have taken it to the service department more than I care to think about. I have also had the worst gas mileage ever. It is a 3.7l motor v6 and I get about 10 -12 miles per gallon. I am supposed to get like 17 min. Well I have had them "test" it and they tell me it gets 26 miles a gallon. Well I know that is a load of b.s. but They are the dealership. I have told them all of the problems I have had and later asked for copies of my service request and they don't even write it down or check for it. The seat fabric stains with water and I asked them about that and they won't even acknowledge that it is stained. The seat is like 3 colors because rain got on the seat and you can't even steam clean it cause it gets worse.

So I have contacted Chrysler corp. and they say if the dealership says one thing that is what they go with. So I have a 28k vehicle with a 6 cylinder motor that wastes fuel worse than a 1 ton pickup. I can't get it fixed cause nothing is wrong but hell I can barely drive it now. Chrysler has no interest in even talking to their customers much less making them happy. I guess I can see how they have that big beautiful brand new corporate office. They take advantage of people sell them an over priced piece of crap and ignore their unhappy customers. They are supposed to be an American company, well you know, and even BMW takes better care of their customers. I don't know what else to do here. I am miserable. They won't even admit that something is wrong much less help me and fix it.

Try an automotive electrician for a diagnosis.

Chrysler is aware of a wiring-harness problem on the Liberty, as there have been complaints. Trouble is, no one symptom has prompted them to solve the problem, and they ain't paying for the work. A good electrician may be able to nail it down for a hundred dollar (one hour) fee, or maybe already know what the problem is. I've seen them solve some hard problems in minutes that the dealer would never find in a million years. As for your gas mileage, 18 MPG seems to be the high, the low about 16. The crappy new methanol fuels will further cut it down. The mileage on the window sticker is under ideal conditions, not normal street driving, and VERY optomistic. In Chrysler's defense, they are no worse than the rest.
