Academy bank advised me that if the bank who cleared the check told them the check was not eligible for a late return they would release the funds sooner. The paying bank has agreed as well as faxed documentation. It is about 1/2 way through the day and Dickinson Financial / Academy Bank is now ignoring my emails and fax... I will keep you posted.

I assume from your last post that the bank released the hold. Good for you for speaking up and requesting that they do. In regards to holds though, you have to bear in mind that even though the check is back at the drawing bank, there is still a period of time in which that bank could reverse it, and return it to your bank. It's not all as clear cut as it seems at a glance. By the extended length of the hold you got, it's fair assumption that your account is still new. If so,, as soon as a period of time has passed, the extended holds go away automatically. Seasons Greetings

So it's legal for a bank to place up to a 10 day hold according to the federal reserve system. I understand why the hold was placed I am just upset that I was told one thing then done another.
