Discover Payment Protection is a ripoff.  The agents don't know the rules for it, the policy isn't available online, and there are so many conflicts about activation of benefits, that nobody, not even the claims department, can agree on anything. 

Not only did they first say that all claims must be filed 30 days after enrollment, the activated my claim prior to 30 days of enrollment, and didn't waive my payment due until 2 statements later. Not only do I have a chat transcript from a Discover agent saying my interest would be waived, but Discover still charged me interest on the statement where benefits were activated.  Since Discover uses an Average Daily Balance method of interest calculation, I'll be paying interest for at least 2 months now. 

And finally, when I call Discover or Payment Protection directly, the phone tree lasts 4 minutes and 30 seconds (I have it recorded), and then after saying it will connect me to an agent (after answering the same questions multiple times and verifying my credit card info multiple times), it says your call cannot be completed, please call the 800 number again. 

I can't even talk to an agent about this problem.  Stay away from Discover Payment Protection.  In fact, stay away from any promotional offers, except cashback from Discover, even balance transfers. Discover will nickel and dime you to no end.
