Dr. Adam Maddox, Thrive Portland, Oregon Dr. Maddox pulls bait and switch and charges for services not performed portland, Oregon
I have been a patient of Dr. Maddox for several years. He treated my husband for cancer. We got our hormones balanced as well. I called last August to request pricing on botox. I was told by the clerk that they had a 'faux botox' for $250.00. I set up an appointment. When I got in the room, Dr. Maddox told me it was $1,000. I told him that I paid $320 for real botox and that was too much. He got angry with me and told me that was more than his cost. I said I couldn't pay that much, and he got upset.
I then paid another $350 for a saliva test for the hormone balancing. I told him I was very happy with the way they were. He changed the prescription. I started feeling hot flashes and emotional swings. I called his office and told them how I was feeling and asked to get it changed back with no response. I continued to complain. I called in and was told by a very snippy young receptionist that I would have to pay for another test of $350.00. when I complained that I had just paid for one she informed me "that is the law". I told her that was ridiculous. I said I wanted to deal with someone else other than this snippy young lady and that I needed my supplements refilled.
I was told that I would have to have another test in March. I paid for the new test in Feb. and sent it in. I called for more supplements and was then told by this same snippy person that Dr. Maddox said I'd have to pay another $500 for another test. I got upset and said that was ridiculous. He then sent me a letter saying I would have to find another doctor because I wasn;t 'treating his help' nice enough.
I sent him an email and said I was upset that he seemed to be only interested in the money. I complained about the above. I even sent another email apologizing if I had been harsh but that I had called numerous times and I wanted to get the same prescription for hormone cream that I had the first time that had been just great. Today I received another email from one of his help telling me to go somewhere else.
I did not get what I paid for. I want the prescription and treatment that I paid for.
I feel Dr. Maddox and his staff are only interested in seeing how much money they can bilk me out of. I believe they are pulling bait and switch techniques to get as much money out of a client as they can. I am now out of thyroid medication and hormone creams and he refuses to refund my money or refill the supplements. He is jeopardizing my health as I have low thyroid and I'm starting to put on weight without the supplements. I plan to report him to the Attorney Generals Office, Consumer Fraud Division, Better Business Bureau, and medical board.
