Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
On Aug. 27, 2001 we left our 97 Ford at this dealership. On 8-31 we signed all the papers and gave an additional $800 and left with a Jeep. The was not yet payed off when the time came for another payment due so we payed it with the understanding that we would be refunded.

On Oct. 7 I took the Jeep to have some work done, Oct 9 I called to see if it was done and was told that the Jeep could no longer be financed and that we had to find something else. At this time Octobers payment had also been made, still no payoff. Finally, due to the fact we had to go out of town due to 2 family deaths, we bought a Nissan Maxima totally defeated the purpose of trading in our car.

When Nov. came another payment on the Ford was withdrawn from our bank account. This now made the payoff $795 less than in the paperwork. The vehicle was paid off on Nov. 23, almost 3 months after the trade- in was made. We only got a $123 refund. That's $ 672 less than what we were owed.

Now it is Jan. 8,02 and I have found out that our tags were NEVER transferred. Due to this, the DMV has charged us a fine because you are only allowed 30 days after the trade to transfer. It has been over 120 days. I transferred our insurance promptly after getting both vehicles, so in the DMV's eyes we allowed our insurance to lapse on the Ford because that is who the tags are for.

I spoke to lawyers and everything. The best any of them to tell us to do was sue and unfortunately that was not something we could afford. I hope know one else has to go through this.

It's farily well established that car salesmen and car dealerships are of ill repute. "All car salesmen are liars!" Not true. Christina's post is a fine example! Apparently her credit was not up to par to purchase the Jeep, and the deal fell through. It is not the dealership's responsibility to mainintain her credit and to find a bank willing to take on such a risk: *If* her credit was good, financing would have not been a problem and she'd be cruising around contentedly in her Jeep. Instead, she was forced to take the Jeep back, keep making payments on the Ford she attempted to trade out of, and find something she could purchase - A Nissan Maxima. It's no one's fault but her own she could not finance the vehicle she wanted. In the New Bern area, E Carolina Hyundai happens to be one of the major ripoff's! Face it, the namesake itself happens to be lemons! Hyundai, Daewoo, Kia, Mitsubishi: Junk. Not only are they junk, they're dirt cheap with less than 5K miles on them, as well. Unfortunately, American vehicles are not much different and happen to continue to plummet in value thanks to the "Employee Pricing" scam sweeping the nation. Hyundai, in this area though, takes the cake as the worst dealership to do business with. Beyond the fact the entire dealership needs to have a fine tooth combing by the attorney general's office and the DMV, again, as it did occur within the last six months, the employees should be drug tested as well. Frequently, at that! Unfortunately, there are others in the New Bern area that warrant attention by not merely the authorities, but the consumers as well. 1. EC Hyundai 2. U Save Auto in Havelock (the yard sale of lemon lots) 3. Anything dealership containing the names "Parker", "Cella", and "Gladwell"...These people sell new vehicles at an outrageous price getting big checks while your vehicle depreciates AND deteriorates faster than a loaf of bread. And don't bother trading it in without a substantial downpayment! Not to mention the back scratching that's done to keep them out of hot water... 4. Dealerships in Greenville often have higher rates thanks to the college population and thus should be avoided. 5. Dealerships in military towns (Havelock, Jacksonville) should be avoided as well, seeing that they are solely there to take advantage of the military population, their direct deposit, and vulnerability to due disposition and age. The top rated dealerships in all of Eastern North Carolina happen to be: 1. New Bern Mazda Suzuki - Eastern Carolina happens to have some of the worst credit per capita in the nation. NB Mazda Suzuki has gone from a tiny, no-name, back burner dealership to this mega store that is attracting a lot of attention...And business thanks to their special finance programs and awesome inventory. Nathan Rago - 252-638-3025 happens to be one of the best car salesmen (customer satisfaction) in the area. Former Marine Corps MP turned local, he understands everyone here! 2. Eastern Carolina Nissan - Unfortunately, most people cannot afford a brand new Nissan. If you're one of the lucky ones, this should be your first and only stop in your quest (no pun intended) to find a vehicle! See Shaun Becton or Jim Pickens Jr 252-636-1000 This is based on local opinions, volume, customer retention (repeat buyers), and customer satisfaction. None of the three have any connection what so ever, although suprisingly, EC Hyundai and EC Nissan were once owned by the same group and have since parted ways...Possibly the reason Hyundai went down hill?

Christina; 15 Nov 2002 I too have had terrible problems with Car dealerships in our area (frankly, who hasn't!) I think the one best resource for correcting problems of this realm is to contact the NC State Attorney consumer complaint dept. http://www.jus.state.nc.us/cpframe.htm Specifically, I contacted them about a credit card company in Delaware. I presented copies of all materials involved and was to the point about the rip off. Within a week the Attorney's office had replied. A few days later some vice president from the card company had wrote that she was looking into the matter and soon after the card company; admitting no wrong doing, correct the problem. Now, maybe I was lucky. They have a form you must print and send in the mail. Make COPIES of all your documentation and send all copies to them. Be clear and to the point (make it easy on the person reading your letter). Tell them exactly what you want them to do: i. e. "the included material clearly shows they own us $672 and we would like that money returned." Have someone else not involved in the problem read your complaint letter to check for clarity (I'm sorry I didn't understand what you were saying in your report). I'm just another person unhappy with all the car dealerships and repair shops around here but if I can help anymore feel free to contact me.
