In October, I won an ebay auction from pjd1966. I sent a money order, and two weeks later found the very unusual items listed in a new auction. I emailed her, asking if it was a mistake, and she emailed a terse, "Yes". The auction continued to climb. All bidders were "private". A closer check of her feedback showed all her auction numbers and bidders were "private". She has days of 60 sales, with 2 or 3 multiple bidders. The few single sales result in neutral or negative feedback.

I've contacted about 18 of those people, and they either did not receive the items, or were overcharged postage, or items were broken, or misrepresented. Ebay has done nothing. Check out her feedback. She managed to get one new person kicked off when she left negative for pjd1966, pjd1966 left negative and complained to ebay.

No more worries. Well it looks like Pjd1966 is no longer a registered user on ebay as of this afternoon.

This last comment shows that ebay is complicit in the fraud.

I figured this was going on at ebay! On Ebay They Give Respect I Deserve With A Rep To Remove Any Bad Post About Me With a phone call In other words, ebay has fraud like this coin crook operating in their auctions, ripping off legitimate buyers with fake coins. And, making millions at it. Or so this coin crook claims. No wonder, fake coins worth little or nothing get sold for hundreds of dollars to fools who can't tell the difference. Do that enough times, and you end up rich. When the complaints come in, this fraud just calls up and has them removed! So, as you see here, ebay doesn't police its members. Why should they? Those Power scammers make ebay rich. They know where their money comes from. This is why I never buy anything on ebay. I call it the sucker's paradise. Idiot's shopping mall. Now, you know why!

Response to reports to eBay on PJD

#5Consumer Suggestion

Sun, February 20, 2005

I wanted to give everyone here a little hope. I have been reporting this seller's auctions to eBay for quite some time and actually got a response from eBay on two of the last four reports I submitted. They pulled a total of 15 of her auctions about 4 weeks ago (in response to 2 separate reports). One of these was reporting 6 auctions for colonial silver and I also submitted the auction that she won and it was for 6 Polish coins. These were clearly not from an estate and they were pulled within a day. I have had no further response for the past 3 weeks. This is probably due to the fact that threre is a new manager of the Coins category who has said that she needs time to train in coins and eBay. Beginning today, the seller has started adding the word "copy" to her titles and descriptions, occasionally it's also with question marks, but she is now at least attempting to appear to be adhering to eBay policies. This could make it even more difficult to get her removed from the venue. As eBay has made such a big deal about being partnered with the ANA as far as the coins category goes, I would suggest emailing the Board of Governors at the ANA. I would include a link to her auctions and explain how the reports are being ignored. Also, please note that coin reports need to be reported by using the "Report" link at: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/selling-coins.html. Any other reports will be ignored.

It is clear that both are part of the problem. They make money from their big power sellers. And the buyers get screwed. They offer plenty of customer no service. Vote with your FEET and starting using other GOOD services like Craigslist.org and many OTHER smaller but good transactors out there. Go to google and type in online auction sites, and pick others. Paypal is part of the problem and also provides customer no service. I want nothing to do with either ebay or paypal. THEY SUCK!

This is in response to Kevin in South Carolina. This seller is one of the scourges of ebay. She sells modern items as 'from Savannah estate' and 'looks all good to me.' I have never been ripped off by her, so have no personal axe to grind. Her items have frequently been posted to coin lists as they are obvious fakes to anyone with a bit of experience. If she is so honest and upright, please explain why all her auctions are private. She does this so no one can warn the bidders they are bidding on crap. Ebay won't do anything about her as they are making a killing on her scams. All those poor sods paying $100+ for reproductions worth diddly are being screwed by Pam Donnelly and again by ebay who only wants its 5% and doesn't care if its buyers are ripped off. Many people have sent complaints about this person to ebay and been ignored. She comes up all the time on ebay's own boards, and the posts are quickly deleted by ebay censors. And a note to those who say her feedback is good. It is actually abyssmal. Any good seller with that many transactions should have a feedback rating of 99.8+%. If you want to see a true picture of her selling record try this link: http://www.toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs?User=pjd1966&Dirn=Received+by She is a perfect example why the number one rule on ebay should be 'Buyer Beware.'

I have noticed disturbing trends

#12Consumer Comment

Thu, February 03, 2005

I have recently purchased items from pjd1966 and have paid through pay-pal for two coins I won which total over $200. While it is too early to say that I have been ripped off I have noticed some disturbing trends. Had I realized prior to bidding the things that I realize now I would never have placed a bid with this person. Being fairly new to ebay I usually go over feedback very carefully prior to placing bids. I am doing research on ebay with the intention of getting good solid feedback and an honest reputation in order to become a reputable seller. Having had good luck so far with the few purchases I made I suppose I did not do my in depth research on this particular seller. I saw they had thousands of sales and a fairly high feedback ratio. However that can be deceiving. As I am getting a bit "antsy" over my two coins I took a more in depth look at pjd1966's feedback. It appears to me there is some kind of positive feedback scam taking place. There is a handful of people who have left hundreds of positive feedbacks. I traced one of these back to the source and found in one instance a person who had a 33 rating and about 200 reciprocation positives from pjd1966. Now I don't have conclusive proof this isn't legitimate but I will say if it is it is quite an interesting anomaly that I have not witnessed before when pouring over other seller's feedbacks. Because of the apparent high volume of this person's feedbacks one has to go back a few pages to find what I am talking about. Look carefully for yourself and you will see what I am referring too. The other interesting (and scary) red flag I see is people are complaining about counterfeit items. If they are sending out counterfeit coins then there could be a lot of people being ripped off who don't even realize it. Having bought a few raw coins on ebay and taken them to a reputable coin dealer I have found that most of the coins I bought on ebay as bu are actually circulated coins. And these are coming from honest dealers, small time guys, and people like me who know just enough about coins to get themselves in trouble. I shudder to think what a truly unscrupulous and crooked individual could do with this. I'm afraid from what I have read that pjd1966 may be such an individual/group. Thirdly, I'm afraid as someone mentioned above that many people are probably too intimidated to risk receiving bad feedback so they leave positives even though they may be unsure or out and out not satisfied. I'm afraid these really are some unscrupulous people who are doing just enough "real" business to have a "good" rating. Is ebay ambivalent if this person is selling enough to make them money? I strive to be an honest, decent person. Sometimes I fall short or fall flat on my face even. I hate to see people take advantage of others though. I am a Christian and I believe nothing is hidden from the Almighty. Upon a cursory examination it appears that this seller may be trying to operate out of the darkness taking advantage of people's ignorance, fear of retaliation, and desire to fit in. Ebay should have a better way to deal with a seller who has red flags flying everywhere than than for an individual with a good ratings to be faced with getting a reprisal negative feedback.

Over $15,000 0f Purchases from pjd1966 all fully refunded due to counterfeit coins

#13Consumer Comment

Mon, October 25, 2004

I had purchased over $15,000.00 in coins mainly, from pjd1966 starting in Jan. 2004. I was very happy thinking I had purchased so many wonderful coins with such value. Because of their many buyers I figured everything was O.K. On May 11 2004 my bubble was busted by taking these coins to an authorized PCGS coin dealer in my area. I was told my coins were fake. I was so upset I didn't know what to do. Even the coins that would real were over graded. Which obviously takes the value of a coin up drastically. I was always told by Jim Donnelly that they don't grade their coins. But what is BU and AU??? No answer!!!! I decided to call the Attorney Generals Offices of both N.Y. and Ga. I was told by both to get in touch with the IFCC. But I had realized I had to get my money back. So I decided to call the Donnelly's. I mainly dealt with Jim, Pams husband. Who had no problem sending my money back to me. He wanted me to send all the coins back at once and would refund my money, but I didn't like that idea. I figured along as long as he had my money first when I purchased them that it was only fair that I get it first in return. Jim decided it should be done in three intervals. He would send $5000. and I would send back 1/3 of the coins. This went on until the middle of July 2004. The bad thing was the whole time I would be waiting for each check they would resell the counterfeit coins that I sent them back. They also make a good deal of money by over charging for their postage. I paid at times over $50. when they paid maybe $7. $4.00 can add up for each item when they are coins. No ins. ever was availiable. That probably would have been another way of making extra money, but they would have never wanted to do that, especially if some people never received their items. As for their feedback if you think everyting is O.K. with their items why would you not give them positive feedback. If you dared to give them bad feedback they would be so nasty talking about black death and other nonsense like that. You really don't know exactly how much bad feedback they have received it only is their for a year and then they are no longer in their 100% feedback. They also had ways of having buyers to retract their neg. because they have made everything alright. Their are many ways of scamming people but these people have found every way possible in their so called Savannah Estates sale [Pam's brother never ending estate] as I was told many times on the phone by Jim Donnelly. Many people have been scammed by pjd1966 and may not find out until years from now. I have reported them to eBay and IFCC and really have had no response. This kind of scamming is going on more then people think on eBay. Who can do really anything if it doesn't start with eBay themselves. It was my greed that got me into this mess thinking their was an easy way to make money. But it was also my fault being so naive of thinking in this world that their really are honest people. Their is always a scam for us out their and we have to not trust a sole. I have told myself that so many times, but I always seem to find them. As for a final thought and this is my quote [Everything does not LOOK ALL GOOD TO ME from the Savannah Scammer]

I have also been ripped off. the problem is, she says fake items, and unless you can know the difference, you think you got something cool. She sold me a fake coin, paid $74 for it. Told her it was fake, retunred it, never go a refund. I have 3 complaints filed against her right now. Ebay is doing jack. You can even cruise the message boards on ebay, they talk all about this women. Ebay continues to delete their posts. It is nuts! She has to be stopped. She is selling thousands a week on fake item, counterfiet and using false statements to fool buyers. BTW: here you will seee 2 acutions by this ebay seller. One is the original auction I won on the fake coin. The other is the same coin placed back online for sale. Still no refund. This is Illegal!

HER SILENCE SPEAKS VOLUMES ..Pamela Donnelly is a lying, scheming, fraudulent THIEF

I copied and pasted the contents of this thread to an email to Pamela Donnelly. No answer, nothing, nada. She does not see fit to defend herself, therefore, all readers can reach their own conclusion as to whether she is a thief or not. I am still out $115.00 and have not received the alleged items. In my opinion Pamela Donnelly is a lying, scheming, fraudulent THIEF. There is recent biological research that indicates this type of behavior has a genetic basis. It is very plausible that her mother or father are/were thieves. And, of course, her siblings are also likely to be liars, thieves, or some other sort of low-life rip-off. To be fair there is the possiblility for them to become a judge or a saint, also. If you are dealing with a member of the Donnelly clan in Georgia do you want to take that chance?

My Experiences with PJD

#19Consumer Comment

Sun, December 14, 2003

I have won quite a few auctions from Ms Donnelly (I'd estimate over 20). I am equivocal as to whether or no she's a "rip-off" for several reasons. On the "not" side: First, she always has responded to my email in a reasonable amount of time. Second, there's only been 1 time an item wasn't received and she asked me to wait to see if it would show and then refunded the money (via my Paypal acount) when I asked her to. Third, and I consider this the most important factor on the not-a-rip-off side, her S&H fees have always been lower than her actual shipping cost. One auction group (~$30 total on 4 wins) she charged me $10 to ship and the postage on the box was $33. Not what you would expect from a true rip-off artist (overcharging would be the rule, yes?). On the "is a rip off" side: You can review her purchases and see that she buys in bulk the same old coins she sells in smaller lots as "unsearched/unsorted". I emailed her about this and got a weak (but possible) answer. The things I have purchased from her have usually been in poor condition, dirty, and/or questionably fake (I bought some old german coins/banknotes that look like "replicas" but don't know how to have them checked). Overall, I extend her the benefit of the doubt because she's not truly misrepresenting anything so far as I can tell. It's all "I don't know anything abut this" and "as is"--she could be liquidating some vast estate of junk and old coins owned by packrats who never threw anything away. Or she could be buying cheap old coins and junk at swapmeets and selling it on eBay as potential treasures. It's the implication that there could be something of great value in one of these lots that kept getting my bids and where I think the true rip-off may be occuring. She has responded well with me and been cooperative and workable. I quit buying the coins and jewelry lots because i don't know much about coins and the jewelry wasn't very valuable (yet it all seemed to fit together--the same styles and all abou the same dirtiness). I eventually quit buying from her because too much of the stuff was in bad condition. As far as her ratings go, well, the eBay "ratings" are pretty poor--everyone's terrified of negatives and the worst of the "big bad" sellers always wait until the buyer posts before they respond. I've had a few negatives because I try to honestly warn people about bad sellers--but the sellers leave lies that make themselves look good. You can see a lot of "Positive" ratings combined with comments like "I'll never buy from you again!" and "rip-off, beware!"

Alarm Sounded Pamela Donnelly, a problem here and it appears to be serious

#20Consumer Comment

Fri, December 12, 2003

Wibur, What you say makes sense. However, there is a problem here and it appears to be serious. I bid on, and won, a total of five eBay auctions from MS Donnelly; 3629835781, 3629905809, 2354508938, 2566115686, and 3629817692. In two cashier's checks I sent her a total of US$115.47, which included US$39.00 for shipping. These items were a calendar, three posters, and a small box of toys. After a considerable amount of time I sent an email questioning shipping, no reply. I received an eBay notice to pay for my auction(s), reworded it as a notice to ship my items and sent this second email to MS Donnelly, no reply. After 60 days from the first auction I filed a negative feedback on MS Donnelly and received the following email: WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM????????HOW DARE YOU LEAVE NEG.FEEDBACK FOR ME.I AM A 98 PERCENT POSS.EBAY POWER SELLER.I WORK OUT EVERY PROBLEM.I HAVE A ASK NO QUESTION RETURN POLICY.I ANSER EVERY EMAIL.I HAVE MY PHONE NUMBER ON EVERY LISTING.WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU.DO YOU LIKE NEG.FEEDBACK?????????????????????????????????/ Her retaliatory feedback was swift, even before her email. And my first negative feedback was swiftly swamped by numerous 'interesting' positive feedback. I personally think there is some kind of feedback chicanery going on here. I have, today, gotten an email from another eBayer with a serious complaint against MS Donnelly. She is intimating yet another problem (mis-leading/false descriptions) with this sellers auctions. Up to this point I was willing to give MS Donnelly some leeway, as I don't know the whole story. But this bidder got another set of alarms to ringing. I 'feel' that this is not a scam in the usual suck em in and leave em high and dry rip-off. Rather she is just playing fast and looose, devil take the hind-most. I am surprised she is not selling 'autographs', probably hasn't the wherewithal to jump on that lucrative bogus bandwagon. I WAS (note emphasis) slow in paying, and that seems to be one of her rip-off groups, I am putting some effort into organizing her methodology. I started a database to check for any blips on the radar concerning her feedback, but apparently there is no smoking gun there. The only statistically viable deviation is a high number of feedback from newer bidders. Oh, and numerous buyers of multiple auctions whom don't seem to repeat their multiple purchases??? So, what are the complaints? 1) Failure to ship. Slow payers? Anyone that falls out of her automated steps? 2) Mis-leading/false descriptions. Fast and loose? Taking advantage of phraseology? 3) Mis-representation. Blatantly false description? Cheap new stuff as Estate? 4) Feedback chicanery and manipulation. Buying or swapping positive feedback? Shill bids? 5) Immediate retaliatory feedback. Intimidation of bidders? 6) False claims of responding to problems. Mis-communications? Perhaps we can solicit input from others that have left her negative or neutral feedback. I have even seen some positive feedback that is quite dubious! My methods of fighting back: eBay complaint USPS mail fraud filing FBI internet fraud complaint contact the Police Department in Savannah contact the District Attorney in Savannah A complaint on badbusinessbureau Complaint to the CA Dept. of Consumer Affairs Report this as a theft to my local P.D. Stick numerous pins in my 'Pam' doll Looking at my email from other unhappy bidders, it sounds like a victim's support group. I still don't have my items and MS Donnelly has my money, is that not the essence of theft? I invite MS Donnelly to come to this forum and explain why anything I have done justifies this state of affairs. She will receive this and the prior postings by email from me. By the way, I buy and sell as Parklane64 on eBay, and my 'aboutme' page has important links to help other eBayers combat fraud. If anyone has a valuable link they think I should add, please contact me through the eBay message system.

Sounds like you have a problem with the seller, not related to ebay

I'd like to take your side, however, looking at pjd1966's feedback profile on ebay, it looks like this person is a highly valued seller with excellent feedback. As of today, this person has a total of 7771 positive feedback ratings, and only 75 negative ratings. Basic math calculations reveal that only 0.009% of customers have had problems with this seller. You do not state what your ebay user name is, but something tells me that you probably have a negative rating of more than 0.009%. If all these people you've supposedly contacted claim that they did not receive their items, then where is the negative feedback for the seller? Oh that's right, there isn't any! Perhaps you should exercise a little more judgment and patience before spewing off an inaccurate report. Your complaint makes little to no sense. Looking at this person's auctions, current and past, it is clear that they often sell more than one of the same item. When you saw "your" item listed again, there was no need to fly off the handle and declare that you have been ripped off. Just relax, keep in mind that this "power seller" has innumerable auctions to deal with, and is most likely completing them in the order that they have finished.
