Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
On December 10th 2007 I received a phone call from a woman who said she was from Eltman Eltman and Cooper. She told me that I had a Citibank Mastercard that I owed 3677.49 to be exact! She said she pulled my Experian credit report in July of 2007. I told her she was bluffing. But then she started rambling on about where I used to work and personal info that would be in my credit report.

I never said she was correct about my personal info, but I told her I never owned a Citibank Master card. She said that she has the info in front of her. I told her great!!! Next I said for her to send me validation of the debt.

So she replied that I would have to do that in writing. Ok I said, (since I know how to play the credit & collections game, and this stuff doesn't intimidate me) then there is nothing else to discuss here.

Then she told me that they will be filing a judgment agianst me at the end of the month. I said What!!! You can't do that without notifying me in writing so that I can verify it whether it's valid or not and respond. She said she sent me letters. I said what letters? You must of misplaced it when you got your mail like I do sometimes, it happens she said.

Not with me I replied! I told her that she was a SCAM, so I hung up. I shouldn't have been speaking to her this long anyway. I guess you get caught up in the conversation because you get heated.

I checked my credit report right after we spoke and found no Citibank Mastercard or any collections from this company to be safe. But, she was right when she pulled my credit report because I did find an inquiry in my report on July of 2007 from Eltman, Eltman & Cooper P.C.

Four days later on December 14, 2007 I receive in the mail a letter from Eltman, Eltman & Cooper P.C. saying "from our previous correspondence, we authoized a settlement for half the amount owed".

Wait a minute!! The date of the letter was written on November 28, 2007, but she spoke to me on December 10th, 2007. The tag on the bottom of the letter shows that the letter was put into PDF on November 30th, 2007.

Did she back date this letter so that I will have less than 30 days to respond? The letter just doesn't make sense.

Then it shows the credit card number of the mastercard and it only has fifteen digits in it. Fifteen digits? All my other credit cards have sixteen digits and not 15!!!!

I sent a validation letter to them certified mail with return receipt so that I can track it and show proof. Now I'm just waiting to see what happens.

I will follow up with a new report when I get a response!
