Fairbanks Capital Corp is a ripoff fraud that charges Bogus fees, makes RUDE phone calls & foreclosure threats. Jacksonville, Florida
We have TWO mortgages with Fairbanks -- LUCKY us! My husband was out of work for 3 months last year so we fell behind on all of our bills. Then my 96 Saturn had the engine sieze up while we still owed on it; that coupled with bad credit resulted in car payments over 2x the old. (Did I mention the $500 downpayment I had to pay in lieu of my mortgage that month?)
These people do not care, they are rude and insulting to boot. I have NEVER been spoken to by anyone in not only such an unprofessional manner, but a downright degrading one "you are not a very responsible person"; "why don't you pay your bills on time?"; "this really isn't my problem to deal with -- you are just trying to avoid paying your bills" are some tid-bits.
As if the insults aren't sufficient, they call at all hours - numerous times per day -- even BEFORE the grace period! (Sundays and holidays too!) Then they mysteriously increase your late fees above what was in your mortage note -- asking you to fax them a copy of your note, etc. Also, they post the payments late! (Of course now that we are behind on all of our bills this is a moot point)but I finally resorted to paying on the phone right at the last grace day because they annoyed me so. Then they started charging $15 per phone pay; later I find that every phone pay was a bad mark on my credit report. Who knew?!!
I only recently got stuck with them on my primary mortgage as they bought out Equicredit (and I thought THEY were bad -- they look like saints in comparison to these sharks!) I had received notice from Equicredit that we were in danger of foreclosure -- I called and made payment arrangements and all was settled. Right around that time Fairbanks too it over. They sent a notice that they were going to foreclose.
I called and told them about the arrangement and was practically called a liar as they had no note on my record. The first lady hung up on me because I was terse -- to say the least. I FINALLY got a supervisor -- one of the Equicredit employees who explained to me that Fairbanks has a different approach to collections (I'll say!) she found the notes on Equicredit's system and told me to pay as per what had been discussed.
Last week a lady was on our property taking pictures, then she knocke don the door and told my husband she just wanted to see if anyone still lived here! I called them and end up hanging up because the man was so rude. Next night I got a message to call a different number for them which I did. Mr. Wright wanted my work number but I would not give it to him, he knew where I worked anyhow.
My May payment on the 2nd mortgage was applied 100% to interest -even though I paid the late fee, and my on-line payment mailed by the bank on the 14th cleared on the 27th.You know, I can't even have a conversation with these guys without crying because of the way they talk to me.
We no longer answer the phone, and neither my husband or I can sleep because we worry constantly about losing our home of 11 years. We both work have 2 kids and really could use a break here. I am scared and I am angry and I am going to help bring these crooks down if it is the last thing I do.
Others have been ripped off too. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! I am also e-mailing every news show I can think of -- any expose show I can find. If enough people make enough noise, Goliath will indeed fall.
