I also had a problem with Firestone recently. I bought tires from them in the Metro Atlanta area and they have been great. The problem started when we took our other car in for diagnosis as the A/C was not blowing cold at times. We left the luxury car with them for several hours as they stated that they were going to perform an in-depth diagnostic test. After our test was completed, we were informed that there was some bad news. Our car, which only has 50,000 miles on it, needed a new compressor and entire new system. The total cost for these repairs was around $2,241! $500 of the repair was for the labor and the rest was for the parts. I located OEM parts from discountacparts.com for a total of $600. This is less than half the price of Firestone's questionable parts. The service manager was confident that our compressor on our European car would not last another month. The car's A/C now blew hot constantly after the so-called diagnostic test. We were also informed that this location had been replacing A/Cs constantly this summer due to the hotter temperatures. Do they think that I am stupid enough to think that an A/C compressor that can handle nearly 1,000 degrees of heat will be harmed by an extra 10 degrees of air temperature? It sounded like they were bragging about all of the unnecessary repairs that they had performed at the expense of the struggling working class.
