First American Home Buyers Protection Corp HOT IN MARYLAND Van Nuys California
I purchased my home 1 year ago in the state of maryland. the first year they came out 3 times in one summer to put freeon in the unit. The rep they used the very first time told me that the unit has a slow leak and also that he'd not be coming back because he wasn't local...he was 1 hr and 45 minutes away from me...and to me that's definitely not local and I understood.
August 08 I called due to the same problem...not cooling and I told them not to use the company because he wasn't local...guess what...that's just who they called...on the 3rd day of 90 degree weather. I ended up finding someone and paid out of pocket instead of waiting for them to reimburse me. They finally found someone else...but I'd fixed the problem.
Now we're in Sept...I called them on the 13th and guess what...the same guy who won't come that far...he called...he and I laughed..because it's ridiculous that they can't find a closer person...he told me he faxed them and declined the job. Guess what...to date (9-16-08) I've not heard anything from them. I even explained to them that my house isn't a conventional home..its a double-wide mobile home and they get hot and it's hard to cool them once they get 85 inside!
I talked to another A/C company they used and they were being diplomatic and said they weren't dealing with First Amer right now due to the heavy volumn they have in their area and my area was too far from them. Again a co that isn't close...and part of the problem is that they don't pay these contractors in a timely fashion so they don't deal with F.A.H.P Corp! One A/C rep said if they dealt with these warranties co for 6 mnths they'd be out of business because they don't pay them on time. They are awful!
