First off.. I seem to hear alot of people saying "How can i feed my family and i make no commission on this deal" That folks in most lots is a crock, It is what is called a "mini" A mini is the minimun commission a person will make on the deal..I sell highline luxury cars so i make about $250.00 on mini...If i sell it really really low.. Window etching? For the VIN? IF a dealer mentions window etching ask him/her how many other places on that vehicle does the VIN already exist? For example...Dashboard..Frame..Engine...Door opening..See the point? It is a lot easier for a car thief to replace the VIN etched glass window than it is in the numerous places that number already exists..just my thunks

It actually annoys me each time I hear a salesman who uses something along the line of "If I reduce the price anymore how will I feed my family?" Remember, you are taking money from my family for every increase in the price! To get the facts strait: I agree that selling cars is how you make your living which is most likely comission based (although many fleet people are salary.. you got a bum deal). If you don't want to haggle with price (thus taking money from your kids), work for Saturn. I also understand that the dealer is not out to lose money and has to make some profit on the car.

Well ill be upfront about this, I am a Fleet Salesman in Tustin, Ca. Now I have something to say to you and mostly to anyone going into a dealership. 1. If your not here to buy a car shop from the comfort of your own home please. 2. This is how i feed my family, i dont appreciate people who treat me as if i am always trying to take advantage of them. 3. I dont appreciate when you think that car sales is a non-profit organization. As a car salesman everytime i reduce the price of the car i take money away from my family. 4. I DO NOT force anyone to sign anything, in fact they can leave at any time. You know your budget more than i do, if you cant afford it please dont get it. 5. Everyone who has a trade-in thinking they should get blue book for it is sadly mistaken. Why you ask? Well, blue book is what YOU would expect to pay for it. We have to smog, license, and repair all your cars before we can legally sell them. This get pricy you can imagine. If you want us to pay blue book for your trade then we expect you to pay MSRP for our car.

I bought my first car, a used '98 Saturn from Fox over on Security Blvd. in Baltimore in July of '01 because the hunk of junk I was driving was on its very last legs. They also conned me (who really didn't know any better) into buying an extended warranty. I was also duped into believing I had the top warranty when I didn't. All I got out of that was a few oil changes and a replaced water pump, which took 10 days to fix. They didn't provide me with a rental car like they promised, and I ended up having to rent my own car so I could get to work. When I submitted the receipt to Fox, they looked at me like I was crazy. It took three months, numerous telephone calls and me exploding in their general sales room area in order to be fully reimbursed for the car rental. Not only that, but I also had to finance my car at 16.9% interest, with a co-signor! The next day I went to my credit union who refinanced it for me without a co-signor at 7.25% Needless to say, I have not and will not do business with them ever again. I took my business over to Saturn of Ellicott City, and they have been nothing but helpful.

Refuse to get the window etching and demand they refund it because they represented it as being free it should be. If it is not free you will not accept it. The forced warranty is another issue. First, contact an attorney about this. Second, follow the logic.. if you're a risky borrower why would a bank want to lend you even more money than initially? Start working on being a squeaky wheel -- contact news stations and any other form of media to show that you mean business. I would contact your lender as well. I have a feeling they might have modified your application to get the loan process. Demand it from both the dealer and from the bank and look for anything that is not in your own handwriting. Do not back down and keep the public informed about how they are handling your situation.
