In October 2012 I had internet service through AT&T. I had been making installments for 12 months for a modem. When my internet service started not working, I called AT&T about it and after two hours on the phone they told me that it was my computer. So I paid someone to come to my house and fix it, only to be informed that it was the modem. So after another hour on the phone with AT&T they agreed to replace the modem, free of charge, because it was still under warranty. The service department sent me a new modem and a box to return the defective modem to them. I mailed the modem back to them in November of 2012.

The next month I had a $100 charge on my bill for the modem that I had already paid for. I called them and they told me that it was a billing cycle glitch and the charge should be removed by the next month. I paid my bill, all except for the $100 that I didn't owe. The next month, the charge was still there along with a late fee. I called again, and was told the same thing as before. They assured me it would be fixed by the next billing cycle.

This went on for the next several months. I changed internet providers in the meantime, and soon after that I whenever I would call AT&T about the bill I would be put on hold indefinitely. Then I received the first collection notice. I wrote letters, made calls, explained that I didn't owe this money, all to no avail. Finally, frustrated, I just paid it.

But it still won't go away. A month after paying the bill, I received a call from Franklin collection service. I told them I had already paid it and they asked me to send them a copy of the check. So I did. I paid the bill this year in January after fighting it for a whole year. In February I got a call saying I still owed the money and in March I faxed a copy of the check to a supervisor. I thought it was over, but it isn't.

Yesterday I arrived home and noticed a missed call from Franklin collection service. I called them back and they told me I still owed AT&T $100. I told them that I had already paid for it and sent proof, but they asked me to send it again. So now I am walking out the door to spend money on printing and faxing, AGAIN. I asked how I could get confirmation that this was finally taken care of and she said to call back tomorrow.

I feel harassed. I also feel that my character has been damaged as this has now been on my credit report month after month after month. This has caused me mental anguish and stress that I do not need. I cannot afford a lawyer, but I feel that I have a case to sue both AT&T and Franklin Collection Service.
