Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I just signed up for this account and I am already terribly concerned. I called to get my available balance. I made a gas purchase that shows up as a 75 dollar debit. Not a problem. I understand that some place a hold for gas purchases. My gas purchase was 36 dollars. Apparently that is a problem. The bank still has not credited the balance to my account. It still looks like I have made a 75 dollar gas purchase and the dim-witted customer service rep was unable and unwilling to explain why this happened. They did not and apparently will not correct it. She told me I should check my ledger for my balance. !!! WTF !!! I can check my ledger all day long, but that doesn't mean that thier records are correct! How in the heck am I supposed to reconcile my transactions. They have no idea what they are doing and need to get out of banking!

Use the debit card like a credit card

When I am at the gas pump it asks me Debit or Credit? I ALWAYS choose CREDIT. Then it does not hold the $75 (or whatever) against my checking account. If you have an actual DEBIT card and not just an ATM card, it should have a visa/mastercard/etc logo on it. CHOOSE CREDIT.

The hold, which is placed by the gas station, will eventually drop off your account by your bank, when it has not been matched to an actual debit item. The amount of time it takes to drop, varies from bank to bank from 1 to 5 days. You can usually avoid the hold by paying for the gas inside (not at the pump) and selecting CREDIT as your processing option. When you do this, it goes through like an ATM withdrawal, and hits your account immediately for the exact amount.
