Global Tea Direct Ripoff, Scam, Misleading, Lies Evanston Illinois
So I saw an Ad on Facebook offering 5 free t-shirts. I clicked on it and it took me to a MySocialAdvantage website that said I had to sign up for these two offers and I would receive my t-shirts. I signed up for "Freecreditreport.com" and this "GlobalTeaDirect" offer. The GTD offer said that I would be charged $2.00 for some tea samples and then $38.95 the next month for additional tea. I was ok with this with the intention of canceling the account after I placed the order for my tea samples so I would not be charged the $38.95 next month. I placed the order and then tried to go to the website to contact the company. The website looks like a real website but it is not functional. I tried clicking on the contact us button and nothing happened. This was on Friday July 17, 2009.
Today, Monday July 20, 2009, I noticed that my bank account had less money than I thought it should. Sure enough, Global Tea Direct charged me a mysterious $40.00 even. I tried calling the number on the so called website, and the lady who answered said "Seattle Coffee Direct". I hung up the phone realizing that something was not right. I then did a web search and found that just a few days ago, other people had been ripped off by this company also. Here is a link to the ripoff reports I found.

I do not know if the "MySocialAdvantage" website has anything to do with this scam, but I would like to make sure everyone uses caution with them also.
We need to put an end to this. I am willing to take action with the others who have been ripped off.

Global Tea only debited $2 now..

So when I filed this report yesterday, the bank people showed Global Tea Direct debiting $40.00 from my account. Today I got a call from the bank aying that Global Tea switched it to only debiting the original $2.00. I am not sure what is going on here with these guys. I will follow up if they debit my account again. In the meantime, I am getting a new debit card with a new number.
