I originally signed up on June 3rd 2008. Upon signing up I also requested personal training which was just over 1k for 54 sessions. They stated they would waive the $199 initiation fee since I was purchasing Personal Training. They said that they could break up my personal training payments to make it easy. About $330 a month x 3 months.

I noticed on June 18th that they had charged $199 to my credit card for the initiation fee. I called and they stated it was a mistake and that they would apply the $199 towards second personal training payment. I found out around July 6th that I would be moving back to Los Angeles, CA because my employment did not work out in Arizona. I asked them about transfering all my personal training and my membership to Hollywood. They stated it could not be because it was not part of "their alliance/franchise" AKA meaning different owners. They stated it would cost me $250.00 to get out of my personal training contract and an additonal $100.00 to cancel the membership. They also stated that I can't be refunded for unused PT sessions because I did not pay for them in full, instead I broke up the payments.

So I asked then I will pay for all them in full and then you can refund me back, correct? They stated "no" you must of paid for them in full at the time you signed up. So I am very confused considering I moved to a state where they won't allow me to transfer it even though I offered to pay any difference in cost at the new location and they will not refund me for PT sessions that I can't use since I live out of state now and they want to continue to charge me for the remaining personal training payments!

This is absolutely insane and there must be some sort of law against this and or protecting consumers. I was also told that the owner of the Arizona Gold's owned the California Golds gyms which now I understand they only own certain ones in California not all of them.

I have already paid over $500.00 and they want $600 more to get me out of a membership I used 6 times and 6 personal training sessions out of 54 and I have only been a member since June 3rd, 2008.
