I purchased a Stanley 5000 watt portable generator on 2/21/2013. It was defective upon delivery. GXI has been attempting to repair the generator for a period of three months. At one point someone at GXI had decided to simply do a changeout and send me another unit. It seems someone of a greater authority decided not to let that happen. So it is now 6/14/2013 and I still have no generator. GXI has an authorized service center in Rhode Island. They have done everything GXI has asked them to do in order to effect a repair. Nothing has worked.
To this date of 6/14/2013, GXI still has no defined plan or course of action. You would think they would simply do the right thing and replace the item. The most frustrating thing is I'm the one, after being very patient, who has to call the authorized service center for a status on the repair. When doing so I'm told they are waiting for direction from GXI. I was told GXI was "doing the paperwork" to have the generator shipped from Rhode Island to North Carolina where the GXI engineers can examine the unit. That was two weeks ago and the generator is still in Rhode Island. I cannot believe, at this point, GXI has any intention of repairing the unit. It's supposed to have a two year warranty. Maybe GXI intends to keep it until the warranty period runs out.
