Today i recieved a flyer from High country Toyota in Scottsboro Alabama. The flyer had Three scratch and win games with it..in big bold letters it says "The prize is right, and gives the rules and directions underneath.IT says and i quote,"Scratch off ALL the circles, if you match 3 amounts in a row you win!!!!..i got $500 three times across.....and it says if you are a winner call immediatly..and i did it said my cash winnings was saved.so i went down there..and this is where the B.S was started to get thick..he gave me a wal-mart card for $5.00....said i didnt qualify????
says right on the front match 3 amounts and win..he said read the fine print on the back...so i did her is the fine print word for word.

NO PURCHASE OR DONATION NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. PURCHASE DOES NOT INCREASE CHANCES OF WINNING.see dealer for details,Bring invitation to event location to comparecode to prize board to determine if you have won a $500 wal-mart gift card.Winner/addresseemust be 18 years or olderand must bring flyer to event location during the sale dates listed above.

i have shown this to my lawyer..#1..the $500 i won on the scratch off was the amout i won...
#2 the so called confirmation number was to see if i won a 2011 toyota tundra or $25,000.00 cash or a $500.00 wal-mart gift card... it says nothing about the cash you win on the scratch off..
so i called them andtold them either pay me what i won..or i will seel legal council..they said WE ARE NOT PAYING YOU A DIME!  we gave you a $5.00 gift card.....and in the same small print as before..it clearly says EVERYONE who enters will be given a $5 concilation prize.. so i won..they are not going to pay..and from what i learned today there was 5-9 people denied the money they won.
so people..these guys are pirates, liars and the fals advertise.....and i will see this through until i get what i won!!!

Toyota Money Carlo Game rubuttal

I "won" $5,000 in this game from my local Toyota dealer. The game is a scam and true fraud, because, in the literature, it states "777<$>777" = win $5,000 cash!** To play simply lift tabs on card. If you have a matching pair, you win!*" "Winners call xxx XXX xxxx Confirmation code xxxxxxxx, Then procede to Gloucester Toyota during event times to claim your prize. ". The ** indicates that no purchase is necessary.

The statement about winning $5,000 is very clear. This is clearly a lie.

This Toyota Dealer is in Gloucester, VA.

As of friday, i have a lawyer and a case, we took it to the D.A who also agreed it is a false fraud scam..the wording was supposed to be a trick to lure potental buyers in.They hung themselvs by saying all who come will recieve a $5 consultation prize..so if everyone gets that..what did i win?..and he went on to say that they did use the word amount in the same paragraph as sctratch off three in a row..so he said its a benefit to me and a scramble for excuses for them ..we will meet monday to further plan a suit agains them for three different actions,,,like they did in each  svratch box..hahaha,,I love Karma!

ALLEN, BY MAKING A BIG PICKET SIGN AND STANDING OUTSIDE THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP......

you can potentially cost the dealership hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost sales.

You see, by alerting people that this particular Toyota dealership is obviously trying to lure people in and buy a vehicle by using a game of chance, it will awaken others to the fact that the dealership is desperate and hurting for sales, right?

If potential customers saw someone standing outside a Toyota dealership with a LARGE picket sign, it might steer them away from that dealership and to another one, wouldn't you agree?

Jerry made a picket sign and stood outside a Toyota dealership, and he posted a Ripoff Report about it. Just type in 354721 at this site and read his Ripoff Report. Then read what he stated in his 'Update By Author #3'.

It appears that picketing outside a Toyota dealership can get some people results, right? My guess is that you might get that $500 if you decided to picket outside the Toyota dealership, correct? The General Manager of the Toyota dealership would most likely pay you the $500, instead of losing potential sales and possibly having a Local News station do a story on TV, wouldn't you agree?

Good luck to you, and I hope to see a picture of you uploaded here at your Ripoff Report picketing outside the Toyota dealership in the near future.

but no where on that flyer does it state that you will win the dollar amount you scratch off. All it says is scratch off all the squares and if you get three matching amounts in a row, then you win. It doesn't say that "You win amount scratched" it just says if you match three that "You win"

They never promised you 500$, it clearly states on the back that you need to bring the winning flyer to have the confimation code checked against the winner's board to see if you've won a 500$ card. Your code didn't match, so you won a 5$ gift card. Again, it doesn't promise you that you win that dollar amount anywhere on the flyer. Good luck with your lawsuit!

If you were over 18 and the name matched the ad I don't see why they said you didn't qualify, unless there is more in the "rules" that you did not post.  But I think your main problem may be this.

Where on the flyer does it say you win $500 CASH?  What if the "prize" was an extra $500 credit toward the purchase of a car?

What I am saying that this sounds like nothing more than a sales campaign, and based on the wording(or lack of) sounds very typical of what people would think of some dealers.

Look at the situation.  You have 3 chances and isn't it amazing how you don't "win" anything on the first two.  But as your LAST chance you match 3 in a row...wow what luck.  Your so excited that you won that you immediately contact them and they tell you to come on down.  The idea of these things is to get people in the doors because they know that a percentage of them(even if small) may end up buying a car.  So while they may "tick off" a few people there will be people gullible enough to still buy a car.

I actually would not be surprised if every one of these "ads" they sent out had the exact same pattern on the cards.

If your lawyer thinks you have a case, good luck.  But if he is charging you, the chances that you are just throwing your money away is very good and you may be back here in a few weeks writing a RipOff report on him.

ALLEN, YOU CAN MAKE A BIG PICKET SIGN AND STAND OUTSIDE THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP......

displaying the sign to everyone passing by, right? (Make sure that you are not on their property.)

The picket sign can say something like this-

BEWARE! TOYOTA SCAMMED ME OUT OF $500.00

Have your scratch-off tickets available for anyone who might want to see them, and direct everybody to Ripoff Report so they can read your Report. Just tell everyone to go to Ripoffreport.com and type in- TOYOTA, and then go to Ripoff Report #780257.

Good luck to you!

P.S. By picketing outside the Toyota dealership, you could possibly cost the dealership tens of thousands of dollars in sales each day. Heck, if you stood outside the dealership for a week, it might cost the dealership over $100,000 in sales, right?
