Hometown Financial Services This company takes your money and gives you nothing for it!! San Diego California
I was foolish enough to respond to a postcard sent to me in the mail by this company. I am a single mom and had experienced some financial hardships. My credit had suffered for it, and I really wanted to rebuild it and get back on my feet.
The sales rep told me I would receive an unsecured credit card with a minimum limit of $300, along with various self help materials. The cost to me was $278, I was told I would have the card in 3-4 weeks.
They have had my money since April 7th, I have received nothing.
I have called repeatedly, often the phone just rings, or I get a recording. When I have spoken to "customer service", I have heard excuse after excuse. I stay very calm when I have to make this type of call, I find I get better results. Not in this case. One gal got very flustered, when I questioned her excuse. She actually said to me "Why are you making this harder on yourself?" I replyed that I simply wanted an answer to my question, she refused to give me her name, and transferred my to someone else who would not help me.I have requested a refund 5 separate times, to no avail.
I have reported this company to BBB and the AG in my state, both agencies simply told me that Hometown would not respond, so apparently now they will just drop the whole thing. To make it worse, while waiting for some help, Hometown sent me a letter saying they hoped I was enjoying the materials. I have called 3 more times since then, every time the story is that their computer is "down" and they can't access my records.
What else can I do? I want my money back, and I want these crooks in jail!!
