It's HP and the guy's right, you misused the product you shouldn't have touched it. A lady came in today with a paper jam in her printer, we gave her a new one. Shd didn't touch it because she knew better. You might try reading the policies on the ESP. And you are not out $1000, you are out $100 and a little bit of time, but then again you picked the HP.

You state that you removed the CD tray. Therefor you violated both HP's warranty and the TSPP. Neither one of them cover misuse, accidental or damage done on purpose. You are actually only out around $100, which is the cost of the drive. Which computer did you actually buy that would cause you to be out $1000, as the only HP computer sold around that price was the Media Center.
