On August 6th, 2018 I purchased a 2007 BMW 750LI from IMD Motors in Garland, TX. I saw the car advertised on Craigslist. From the time I bought the car the Service Soon light kept flashing. I called them they told me the oil was changed the day I bought the car and the computer just needed resetting to make the warning light go away. So I take them the car to reset. After 45 minutes of tinkering with the car I drove off. However, computer still was not reset and air conditioner was now blowing hot air. So I turn around, take car back and tell them the a/c is now blowing hot air. So they tinker with the car another 30 minutes, getting the air to blow cold, but the fan is not blowing at maximum level and computer still not reset. The owner, Mike, tells me the mechanic who can look at the car is out and to bring the car in on the upcoming Monday and he'll look at it. I agree to this. On the Friday prior to taking them the car I'm sitting in the car, with the car running, in Park. I go to shift the car into Drive and the car won't shift. There is a Transmission Fault error code on the dash.

The car is undriveable. I had the car towed to IMD Motors to diagnose the problem. This was on a Saturday. For 4 days I waited on a call from them to give me some answers. No one ever called me. So on Wednesday I drove to their business to get answers. The owner, Mike, told me the Valve Body was bad and needed replacing. He quoted me $1,000 to do the repair. I was suspicious of his answer. Mainly due to him being a LIAR. Shortly after buying the car I once asked him if I could speak to the owner. He looked me dead in my eyes and told me the owner was not it. Subsequently, after speaking with the receptionist, she identified him as the owner. At any rate, I digressed. Again, I was suspicious of the quote and diagnosis he'd given me. I felt like whatever was wrong with the car was minor. So I called some expert BMW repair mechanics and got other opinions. What they were telling me is that the Valve Body is a $3,000 to $4,000 repair and there was no way he (Mike) could do it for $1,000. The vibe I got from Mike was that the problem was minor and he was just being dishonest, trying to squeeze me for money.

I was not going to let this dishonest dude screw me. So I spent more money having the car towed to a reputable BMW repair shop. And as I had expected, the issue was minor. All that was needed was topping off of the transmission fluid. That's right, the transmission fluid was low. I paid a couple hundred dollars for the service and all was fine with my vehicle. If Mike at IMD Motors wasn't greedy and dishonest he could have done this service for me. It's called service after the sale. Squeezing me for money was more important to him than taking care of me. Mind you, I paid him $7,500 cash for the car. And this is the horrible treatment I get after the sale. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE GUYS. DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE FROM THEM. THEY ARE DISHONEST AND DON'T KNOW HOW TO TREAT CUSTOMERS.

On August 6, 2018 I purchased a 2007 BMW 750LI from IMD Motors, located at 3015 S. Garland Avenue in Garland, TX.  On August 24, 2018 the transmission blew up.  Had the car diagnosed by a certified BMW repair shop.  They informed me that the transmission fluid was dark, dirty and had metal shavings in it.  A sure red flag of a bad transmission.

Had IMD Motors checked for this when buying the car from the auction, they would have spotted this.  I brought this to Mike's (the owner) attention and he told me that because you have to lift the car to check the transmission fluid (a time consuming process that they choose not to undertake), they do not check the transmission fluid and purchase cars blind.

Obviously, from a consumer standpoint, not a good way to conduct your business.  I've learned my lesson from this.  Do not purchase cars from unreputable dealers.  Also, before buying the car I could have taken it to a mechanic for disagnosis but I assumed that the dealer had already taken care of this.  Obviously a wrong assumption on my part.

Buyer beware with IMD Motors in Garland, Texas.  Stay far away from these people.  They are not reputable, incompetent and sell bad cars.
