Moving company pickup my items on 4-30-07 was supposed to deliver on 6-7-07. They gave me an estimated of $3502. originally and when they came they said it would be $3750. I agree. He told me to sing all the papers whci were without price put on them i didnt want to he said i had the email estimated they where not going to cheat me off. I sign everything including the one where they price goes. Which at the moment was blank. If I didnt sign he was not going to place the good in the truck. I sign.

They place all the goods in truck when eveything was put in the truck I gave him a cashiers check that my landlord make for the amount of $1750. to then that was part of my house deposit. Then I walked away and let him finish with hes paper work. I was outside and my mother said to me just paid them all off that way you dont spend the money. I have $2000. cash in my purse and I went back and gave him the $2000. cash In total I gave them $3750.00 when he dont with the paper work he calls me and tells me that the price has gone up. It went from $3502. to $3750. to final amount of $7994. and that I owe the company still $4244. I started to cry. I told them that no I couldnt pay that I have move in 2004 from NJ to AZ and then in 2006 from AZ to NJ again and its never been that high the most I paid was $4200. with Mayflower 2006. I had more things. I also argue with him because they broken the pation loading it in and other items.

He called Samira who was incharge of my move at the moment and he walked away & spoke her when he walked back he puts her on the phone I am crying my mother is crying & upset. I speak to Samira she told me not to worry that they would give it to me for the price of $3750. and that he made a mistake and that I have the estimated online that by New Jersey law it was a binding contract and no matter what it was aloud 10% then it was estimated and the paper work he gave me it was not meant much. I calm down he gave me the paper work and left with my items.

Know before that happen they where supposed to come and pick up my items on 4-27-07 they didnt come when I called then they told me they where sorry that there truck broke down and they need it to get it fix. Finally on 4-30-07 I called them and I told them I need to get out the out the day they told me that the truck was still broken down, I told them I have to take the items out I have to hand over the key the day to the landlord, they said ok I call you back. This was like 9am when 11am I called them again and they said they where trying to rent a truck to come and get my items and it would be until later when they come.

They final appear at 2 pm with a rental from peske company and they took my items. Every since I have not seen my items, my money giving to them or them at all. They dont answer there phone I cant get thru of them and now they have the number disconnected all that its seems to work is there email. I still dont have my things since 04-30-07 its like I have lost it all....

Scam Mover

Nelly, you met up with a scam mover and they've changed names at least twice that I am aware of - could be more. NJ is a prime location for scam movers and I would not trust anyone in NJ other than a major company. I don't know if you have access to their warehouse, but it's possible your items are still located in NJ. One thing you can try is to contact the website moverescue.com and see if they can help you find your items. If your items are found, then you'll need to either hire another mover (like a major company this time) or rent a truck and get the items yourself. Unfortunately, it may cost you another $4000 if you do this, but you will have your items back. I don't know if you've filed a police report, but you definitely should because you should try and see if you can deduct the loss as a Schedule A Casualty Loss; I would consult a tax consultant for more details on this. Best of luck to you.
