Mr. Whitehurst promised quality and professional work in a timely manner. We paid $1,600 down and agreed to pay the remaining $1,600 upon completion. He would send one worker at a time to perform work, and they were constantly taking shortcuts on the work, therefore, performing unsightly and horrible work.

He repeatedly asked that I point out things that his workers were doing wrong and I advised him of issues many times, but then finally advised him that, this was their job, not mine and I should not have to continue pointing out mistakes or cover-ups to him and his workers. We continued to have to call and speak with him regarding the quality and workmanship that we were receiving and each time, he would cut us off and not listen to anything we were saying.

The rotten wood was pieced together, which I wouldn’t mind, if they made it look decent. The wood that was replaced, was cut uneven and gaps were filled in with tons of caulk. The painting that was performed was unsightly due to the previous paint was not scrapped nor sanded, prior to new coat being put on. Once this was brought to his attention, he stated, oh no, we don’t sand and if you want it sanded, that’s going to cost you.

At that time, I asked him what I was paying him $3,200 for, he said to replace rotten wood and paint. He then provided his worker with a small hand-held sander, which clearly was not used. He became very aggravated when asked to complete the job promised and would never let me speak. He stated on 09/13/16 that the job was complete and wanted his money, however, I had to review the work prior to payment.

The job was not complete, there was still rotten wood around my home and several issues were noted. When brought to his attention, he acted like he didn’t see what I was referring to and got very aggravated with me. At that time, he was asked to remove himself from my property and to not return for any reason what-so-ever.

He is supposed to be a professional contractor, yet, he does not provide professional workmanship, not quality work.

 How did you resolve this issue? My senior parents paid before I could check his credentials. He hasn’t started yet. At this point, I just want their money back. They paid half up front. Help!

I would like to withdraw my previous comments about Mr. Whitehurst and his business, J & W Contractors. All of the issues with him have been resolved and I have no further negative things to say about him.
