JBC Legal ripoff! Will not provide proof of legitimate bills, penalties or agreements. Bloomfield New Jersey
I called this group when I first got their letter in 11/2004. I never even thought to check into it as I was embarrased and wanting to clear it up I paid the bill and spoke with the customer service representative telling them
1) the bill $174.00 would be paid,
2) when it would be paid, and
3) made sure that is all I had to do.
I received a letter day with $320.00 of penalties (that I supposedly agreed to pay) along with the orginal check amount--- which I already paid? Why are they charging me twice? They didnt answeer that.
When I asked for a copy of the bill to keep accurate finance records they said they didnt have to send me anything. Then I asked to speak with a supervisor who was more demeaning, rude and refused to help. He told me that I should get myself and attorney because I needed help paying my bills. That is when I recognized this an illegitmate attempt at intimidating me so I would cave in and pay the bill. I told him if I didnt intend to pay my bills I wouldnt be calling would I. I again asked for him to send me the bill and I would be happy to pay any legitimate claim against me. I was then told that they were not the post office and didn't have to mail me anything.
While I speaking with him I jumped onto the wonderful internet and googled these slimy folks... sure enough... complaints and lawsuits galore... AGAINST THEM! So I told the supervsior that I would file a claim with the Fair Trade Commission (FTC) and Better Business Bureau(BBB). Anyone who deals with JBC LEgal should call both.... I was treated so well at the FTC that I was genuinely shocked. They will give you all you need to send a cease communication letter and how to protect yourself against these parasites. My boyfiend is heading into lawschool and when I share this with him I will make sure to ask that he never becomes these type of lowlife shylocks....
