Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

To say the least this was by far the worst experiance I ever had buying a vehicle. Let alone a "Used One". As we, my wife and I, went to Jeff Gordon Chevrolete to see about a used 2009 GMC Acadia they had, we never thought in a million years it was going to take us 10 days to give that car back and get our car off our lot. What the dealer had told us was that we could take his car home for a couple of days and see if it is what we want. So, we did, but, before we did we signed what "they" called a preliminary contract, we where told they had to do this just in case we didn't bring it back and they said it was a chance for them to shop around to get us a good APR on the loan.

All along I am thinking wow, what great guys. Even thinking to myself, if I don't buy this today or when we bring the car back, that I would in the future and I would at that time deffinatly refer them to my friends on base. Oh ya, forgot to mension I am a United States Marine. Anyways, we thought about it over the weekend and decided it was just to much to handle right now and most of all my wife did n't feel comfortable at all driving a much bigger vehicle then the one we traded in.

So we got a phone call that Monday telling us they got a real good rate for us and said we needed to come in and sign this contract. As we said we would, however, we no intention of signing a real contract to buy the car. When we arrived and gave the dealer the keys and the dealer tag back we said thank you but we just can't afford it nor do we feel comfortable driving the car. There exact response was, well you already signed a contract, and we explained to them; we thought it was a priliminary contract so we could test out the car. They said and I quote," you already signed a contract, and you are stuck with it, I can trade you down."

I was like holly sh*t what is going on, and as any salesman he tries to bullshit around the truth. First he said it was explained to us when we took the car the first day that we where getting financing that it could take 3 to 5 days that was why they gave us the dealer tag and not the 30 day temp tags. He also said if the payment wasn't the problem then we could get you in a car more comfortable. What was strange is when we came back about an hour later he then told me that he got us redused from 11.99 to 7.6  through GMAC, and that was the best he could do and we where stuck with the truck.

We tried to explain to him it wasn't bad for the payments that the major problem was we did not feel comfortable with the car. He then said I don't really care, we already have your signature and we where stuck with the GMC Acadia. He then proceeded to tell us that we where no longer welcome at there dealership and forced us out the door.

Well I was not done with that, after being told I was getting financed throug GMAC, I called them, and no one had recieved anything on quoting Jeff Gordon Chevrolete a finance rate under my name. They also told us it would be 2 to 3 days and we could call back and find out then because my name  would be in the system with them on the financing. So we waited at the same time asking several dealerships for advice and reading our contracted. All of them said that Jeff Gordon basically lied to us and just did what they needed to, to get our names on a contract.

We finally got a chance to call GMAC and ask again if they had us in the system? Again, they said no and that is when we where getting really suspious on what was going on. By this time I froze my auto loan account and this allowed only myself to pay for my loan with cash as long as i need or until I removed the block. We got a phone call from my bank stating they had just recieved the check to pay off our loan from Jeff Gordon and that they where going to send it back. Now i really had fire power to refuse the contract, because if they had the title of our car we would really be stuck the GMC Acadia. But, because the title is in our hands we could really refuse our contract because they had no calaturol against us.

After that and 8 days of waiting to cancel our contract we tried to call the dealership, at this time they would not speak to us. So my wife and I called the local police in Wilmington NC, where the dealer was located. We explained to them that we still had the title, we where still the registered users , and we still had insurance on it. They exact words where, Go Get Your Car. So we did, at 11:30 at night. We also, of course, returned the GMC Acadia, and dropped the keys off at the overnight maintenance box.

Of course the next day they tried to call and say we stole their vehicle off there lot and we would have to bring it back. When I inlightened them what we had did about there check, it changed there view. They then said well if we haven't paid you anything, and you don't have any financing yet we are going to rip up your contract. At this point I believe they knew we where not giving up on our car and we where prepaired to take this to court because of a phone call we had a lawyer make to them to let them know we where prepaired for court and we where not giving up. We are still waiting on the phone to tell us they have ripped up the contract, but I believe it will be a while, because I am sure they are thinking of making us sweat it out a bit. But after telling our lawyer what they had said, he pretty much said congratulations, that it is really over because of the bases of us refusing their check and what they had said over the phone about ripping up the contract, that we didn't have much to worry about.
