The company i would like to report as a major rip off goes by the name J.V.C. What they do is totally misleading and a down right lie from the very begining. First there is an add in the newspaper that simply states customer service rep $1800-1900 per mo.

So you call and they say they have one position avaible, next you set up an interview. In the interview they say the job requires you to assemble vacums in peoples homes, KIRBY VACUUMS to be exact. After the interview they tell you they will call you if they have chosen you for the position out of all the aplicants in an hour.

One hour later you get the phone call...."Suprise your hired" they lady says. They lead you to belive that you are chosen for the job out of many people. So the next day you go to work there, you walk in the building and see about 50 people sitting in chairs, many the same people you saw yesterday being interviewd.

So there is the 1st lie, they say you are the only one but yet your not, they hire everyone. Next some motavational speaker comes in and tells you how you can make so much money selling vacums and this and that trying to get you to say " THAT'S POSITIVE " over and over with the group.

That weekend they spend time with you training you to assemble vacums, none of wich you get paid for. After training they tell you how the pay plan works.....here is where they flat out lie through there teeth. They say all you have to do is complet 60 household demo's of the vacum in the 30 days to recieve your money.

What they don't tell you is that you most likley won't get 60 demo's. In fact not even close, so before work began and we all singh the paper work wich is in fine faded print in a packet about 50 pages long, that is when i asked the trainer personaly..."are we gaurenteed 60 demo's per month, and that they are already placed and ready to go." and he said "yes",....LIAR... they also tell you you don't have to do any door to door knocking, yet another lie.

On the first day we went out to a neighborhood and he told me "ok you got this block",. ??? i didn't know what he meant so i asked " what do you mean"....."your gonna knock on these doors" he said...wow that suprised me ..the whole weekend we were being traind several people asked on a frequent bases if we had to knock on doors and the trainer repeatedly said"no you don't have to knock on doors, the canvassers will do that for you".

At this point i was seriously mad but decided to give a shot for a couple of days to see what is was all about. So they go to these neighbor hoods and before you get out they van the trainer oraganizes a little cheer to help pump you up like before a sports game ...they go " raw , raw , lets go sell some vacums " or something like that. They then drop you off in a neighborhood to knock on doors and ask people if you can give a demonstation of the kirby vacum in there house and 99% of the people say hell no.

So after going to several houses and get all craped out you wait for the van to come back to pick you up. Most of the times they take way to long to come back and they leave you waiting there on the side walk for over an hour at times. When you finally do get a demo, it is almost always by the canvass girl that is out knocking doors at the same time you are but she tells people the demo will only take 15 minutes and yet in order to get credit you must pull 100 dirt pads wich takes atleast an hour.

So you get in the people's house and there thinking this will only be a couple of minutes and get angry when you start dippin in to there dinner time and such. After the people say the have enough of the demo then you ask if they would consider purchising one, wich happes to run at $1900 ,yeah a lot for a dam vacum. So of course they almost always so know and that's when you call the manager.

They come back and haggle and presure sales the vacum worst than a car salesman, at that point the people get even madder or the manager sells the vacum at some price below invoice at $1100 wich you get no profit of. So on the second day i discoverd that JVC was the utimate rip off when i was sent out to another street to knock on doors with another guy that had been working for JVC for about 3 weeks, he said that he had worked everyday and only completed 28 demos at wich he was paid 60 bucks a week for and that's at about 70 hours a week walking in neighboorhoods, knocking on doors, and getting on your hands and knees and vacuming until 11:00pm at night for JVC company.

So obviously he wasn't going to get 60 demo's at less than 1 demo a day with about 6 days letf he needed over 30. Wich means no $1900 for him, really only like $200 or $300 for the whole month, to me that's insane, but it wasn't just him i talked to many others that day that said they worked everyday last month and didn't get 60 demo's and also were paid much , much less than expected. So that night i quit, and after 5 days of work i was payed absoulty nothing, and had been lied to about it all. So i highly warn you stay away from any company that goes by the name J.V.C and stay away from any company that trains to assemble and sell Kirby Vacums, because it is a total scam!
