My husband bought a ring from Kay Jewelers in April of 2007. It was an engagement ring. We bought the warranty also. Shortly after, a stone fell out of the ring. So we took it in to get it replaced.

Six months later another jewelry company told me that the stones in my ring were loose so I took it back to Kays to have them tightened.

Now 8 months later the main stone in the ring fell out and when I took it back to them to tell them they said they would not fix it because I had not taken it back within the 6 month period they request in the warranty. While it was my fault I did not take it to get inspected in the allotted time I believe they should stand by there product.

This is not the first time that a stone has fallen out and I shouldn't have to replace or be in fear of a stone falling out of the ring every 6 to 8 months. I believe the ring is faulty and that Kays should stand by there products regardless of the warranty lapse. If I had had the ring for 10 years I could see but I have only had the ring for a short time.

NOONE I talked to at the company would help me and I believe that it was a bad case of customer service. It started at the Tampa store with Lisa Logan and it quickly spread to the customer service representative Monica, and then to her supervisor Dennis. They were extremly rude and unhelpful. They didnt act like employees I would want to have working for me.

I believe Kays should stand by your product and if it is defective replace it. I will never do business with this company again and will be telling all I know to do the same.

How hard are you on your jewelry?

First off, you need to follow the instructions of your warranty to the letter just as you would for any other purchase (i.e. your car, house appliance, television). If you have had so many problems with stones in such a short period of time it makes me think that you are very hard on your jewelery. Gold is a very soft metal. It will bend and warp over time with just body heat and pressure of everyday wear. You can knock out a stone with just a simple bump. It doesn't take much. It seems highly unlikely that the products are defective and you are hard on your jewelry. I say this with over 20 years in the custom design and repair in this field.
