Kendal N. Carlson DMD not an honorable dentist Denver Colorado
A cancer screen test was done which I didn't agree to in Sept of 2008. They sent me a surprise bill ($67) shortly after that, which I responded with a letter stating the reason why I didn't owe the balance (also called & left a message regarding this). The bill with a final notice/collection threat continued.
I have told them several times in the past (to previous hygienist) that I wasn't interested in anything that my insurance doesn't cover unless it's so important that I can't refuse it. The dentist sent me a responding letter, which said the reason for the check up, was because of the danger the particular cancer posed and he "required" all his patients to do the screen test (he didn't deny my disapproval).
I have been visiting Dr. Carlson for about 8, and recently found a new dentist. One thing I learned over the years was that Dr. Carlson tried so hard selling unnecessary stuff & service to me (such as; custom mouth guard, special mouth wash, additional filling when my teeth are healthy, etc).
There were times when I had to say no more than once. It is interesting that he said I could have signed to disagree with the cancer screen test (which is opposite of usual; sign to agree but not sign to disagree) in his responding message.
He originally offered me to pay only 1/2 of the bill, which I first declined because I didn't think it was fair for me to pay for something I didn't request. However, I told him that I am willing to pay 1/2 the bill if he is willing to send me my x-rays (my x-rays were already paid by my insurance). I haven't heard back, and I suppose he will turn my bill over to a collection agent to hurt my credit rating.
I wouldn't recommend Dr. Carlson to any one of my family members or friends, as he is dishonest, and vindictive.
