Interestingly, after filing this report, Kevin Ellner contacted me just recently. I filed a complaint last year with the BBB and he contacted the BBB to try and reach me. He officially responded to my original BBB complaint and he is offering to refund the money for the unfinished work. A year later, $2000 lost, gained alot of frustration, broken trust and disappointment, but hopefully it will work out and I will receive my money back. i think he is trying to clean-up his reputation and sicerely wants to amend the BBB complaints (and probably others) against him. Whatever his motivation is, lesson learned = 1) research contractors you hire & get referrals on their work, 2) never pay anything up front!
