It's pretty bad when a company removes the instructions from the machines just so they can charge you for a trainer. Been going to the same gym for 22 years. It's now owned by gold's. Every year at this time, there are hundreds of newbies milling around trying to figure out what to do and how to do it. That lasts for a couple of weeks, until the end of January and then things get back to normal. gold's has opened up a couple of new gyms, with brand new equipment and each one has large extensive instructions on how to operate each piece of equipment. I guess they haven't sunk low enough to remove the instructions, YET. One guy I know, who I use to lift with, who was an ex-pro body builder use to have several people come up to us every time we worked out to ask him questions and opinions. The manager of gold's finally threatened to kick him out if he didn't stop "training" people. Told him he was losing money because those folks should be hiring "his" trainers. The guy joined to another gym. I agree with your suggestion to find a workout partner. Just make sure THEY know what they are doing.
