Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Yes...Lake Norman Dodge/Chrysler has more deception behind their 4 star rating than most car salesman...That's how they get that 4th star...Ain't that right, BILL.

In the middle 2000's, I decided to trade my vehicle in which only had 60,000 miles for another and was looking at some used vehicles at Lake Norman Dodge that would keep me in the same payment range I already was in.  At the time, they had a new salesman from Florida, named Donnie C...Donnie was trying to talk me into a lease program on a new ride and I had already been for-warned about lease programs...SO I was very reluctant...Now keep in mind, I got to their sales lot before they even opened on a Saturday...

OK...So here I am looking at used rides and I have Donnie trying to convince me to look at the new rides and get into a lease program that will keep the payments in my payment range.  He went and got the keys to one of these new rides, which I found too large and too dashy, and we went riding which I didn't mind since I had a desire to drive one of these rides that look better on the out than in.  Donnie had practically talked my husband into this deal but I wasn't falling for it...So off we go back to the sales lot on a hot summer's day...It's past lunch and I hadn't eaten anything yet...

I ground Donnie on the lease deals...He can't answer all my questions, so he goes and gets his manager...Was it Bill...I can't really remember, but I do remember his face because he sat across from me like he was the angel of car salesman...He insisted that Chrysler was offering a new lease program and mileage didn't count...I grilled and stood my ground and Donnie and Bill??? was insistant that this was the prime deal for my situation...That mileage did NOT matter with this lease program...

I sat there all day while they went back and forth...My husband and I left briefly for some dinner as we were wore totally out...We went back after dinner and again I grilled Bill??? as he was leading the show now...Donnie was exhausted also...He sat and smiled at us, assured us that mileage didn't count...

Well here it was getting close to closing and I had a 3 hour ride home...My husband was already swindled into their game and with the pressure I had endured all day and most the night, I asked and grilled again and was assured that mileage did NOT count on this lease program...Needless to say, I buckled and signed the papers...I was sooo exhausted that I barely remember the color of the financial man...Not that color matters to me but it would verify my dealings with them because there was a black and a white financial manager...But I know we dealt with the black and the white financial managers each at separate times as my husband was swindled into coming back and getting into a lease program with a truck...Again the mileage didn't matter and believe me, it was an issue because of my husband's job, he puts 60,000 miles a year on his ride and the salesman KNEW THIS...IT WAS MADE A POINT...

Anyhow, my husband decides when his truck gets close to the required mileage to see if mileage counted...BINGO...Guess what it does...Needless to say, he traded it in and now since 2005 has paid $902.00 a month on a truck because of their lies...

Then I received a letter from Chrysler stating that I should be close to my mileage limit...I call Chrysler and asked them why they sent this letter cause of what Bill?? & Donnie C. had told me about MILEAGE DOESN"T MATTER WITH THIS LEASE...And the nice lady on the other end, says..."Yes is does Mam, I'm looking at your lease agreement"...OH MY GOODNESS...I WAS SWINDLED AFTER ALL...

So I called Lake Norman Dodge...Angry of course...They tell me they are sorry for the inconvenience...(Not sorry for the lies)...That they have fired the certain people I dealt with a while back and they could trade me out...Making me feel they were sincere...NOT SO...I'm paying twice the amount for a smaller vehicle because I had to pay for the mileage...

WELL...I should've gone to an attorney from the get go...We were pushed under duress into this loan...We were tired and beat up by their all day antics and promises...BUT I didn't...

Then I get a bill in the mail for property taxes from the lease program and the leased TERROR had been gone since 2007 and it's 2010.  So I call Bill and tell him I ate enough of their lies and have paid for it, I think Lake Norman Dodge should pay for this property tax bill...Bill says he'll check into it...Next Call, He'll have his girls check into it...Next Call, He'll have his financial manager check into it...NO CALL BACK FROM BILL...So when I decided to make one last call and hoping that for once there's one honest car dealership and car salesman left in this world, Bill informs me that "He don't see it happening"...

So for all of you who decide to reach out to Lake Norman Dodge because it's a four star dealership...Remember all the lies they tell people to get that 4th star...

I don't need your rebuttals either LND...You know what you did or you wouldn't have told me you fired those two that I dealt with...LIES, LIES AND MORE LIES...That's how you get your stars.

Insult to Injury

Gee Thanks Guys for adding insult to injury...You insult my naiveness in this situation and then tell me I did right by filing this complaint...And then want to give me advice.

We are already aware that as first time new car buyers, we messed up...And yes we are paying dearly for it if that makes you feel better...But there are more people out there that are ignorant with regards to a car salesman tactics that needed to know and that's why I made the complaint.  I did not make the complaint for people to insult my integrity or my values or my reasons for withstanding 12 hrs of their lies. They were wolves in sheep's clothing hiding behind a Four Star reputation that I put  value into their false stars so to speak.

I am a trusting person...Maybe the last one left on the planet...And I am feeling the growing pains of this trust.  But never did I expect people that aren't associated with this complaint to come out of the blue and be insulting and praising and advisory in the same sentence.

Thanks again for making innocent victims think twice about filing a legit complaint on Ripp Off Report .com.

Say what you will now...I'm done.

But it fails to  address the fact that many consumers do not know what spot delivery is, or that they were subjected to it once they leave the stealership with a vehicle.

It didn't?  Gosh!  I included a brief explanation of what "spot delivery" is and outlined what the dealer will attempt to do, in an effort to get more money from the consumer.  Let me repeat it for you Rozzy.

4. Never accept SPOT DELIVERY.  Spot delivery is when a dealer will let you take the vehicle while financing is "pending" approval.  In other words, you don't have a signed loan agreement with the lender.  At a later date, they will call you in proclaiming you need a larger down payment, co-signer, etc. to have your loan approved.  If you follow tip #1 you avoid this nonsense altogether.

Shouldn't you be selling pens or something on Ebay?

The problem with spot delivery..

Roberts advice is good. But it fails to  address the fact that many consumers do not know what spot delivery is, or that they were subjected to it once they leave the stealership with a vehicle.

And that is why it should be illegal.

I don't recall many reports regarding this highly unethical tactic where the OP stated they were aware they were not yet financially approved for the vehicle they drove home in...until a later date.

This happened to me once..and I clearly recall before leaving the Ford dealership in a brand new Mustang, that I certainly believed i signed all financing documents and was approved. Only to later be told I must pay another thousand.

This will not happen to me again because I would toss the keys on anyone's desk that tried to pull this on me and tell them the deal is off..but unfortunately many do not understand they were involved in a spot delivery..so they feel they have no other choice.

One word sums it up....SCAM.

How long?

#5Consumer Suggestion

Although I wasn't superhuman enough to withstand the exhaustion of being manipulated for 12 hours

How long was the rope they used to tie you down for 12 HOURS?

I will NEVER understand why certain people cannot simply rise to their feet and WALK OUT!

I've purchased plenty of new cars in my 56 years and I've never spent more than 30 minutes negotiating a deal with any dealership.  The minute any salesperson starts to spew garbage I get up and LEAVE.

Here's some tips for the future.

1.  NEVER, repeat NEVER, use dealer financing!  Always secure your auto financing BEFORE you approach any dealer.  This puts you in a better position to negotiate a deal.  Also, you won't have to deal with any "finance manager" and risk other add ons being added to the deal.  This will also prevent you from being exposed to any "spot delivery" games.

2.  Determine what PRICE you can afford-not the monthly payment-the PRICE.

3.  Walk away from a bad deal.  The minute you smell "BS" or they toss more sales persons or sales managers at you, it's time to leave.

You Went Along With It!

Of course they lied to you, that's a given.  But as the other person said, the finger points right back to you for NOT READING what in the hell you obligated yourself to!  Incredible!  Why did they do this?  Because they know the average person will do the same thing and when that "average person" finds out what THEY OBLIGATED THEMSELVES TO, oh yes, its the dealers fault!

Secondly, you kept complaining about being hungry, worn out and being there for 12 hours.  YOU agreed to STAY THERE for 12 hours!  They read you like a book.  They knew they could wear you down and in all probabiliity they would have the opportunity to get you into a CAR FLEECE.  Guess what?  They did!  It doesn't take 12 hours to buy a car.  If you were uncomfortable with the amount of time you were there, then you could have used your feet to walk out.  YOU chose to stay and YOU chose to get into a stupid CAR FLEECE!

The Sleazy American Car Business has earned their reputation!  When people choose to do business with them, they need to learn what they are doing.  I hope a lesson was learned here and never again will you "give in" to a con job.  You are EXACTLY RIGHT when you voiced your concerns about a CAR FLEECE.  It was a good deal, no cancel that, it was a GREAT DEAL...for the car dealer!!!!!

Yes Scarlett,

The bad is on me...Although I wasn't superhuman enough to withstand the exhaustion of being manipulated for 12 hours...I should've been superhuman enough to withstand another hour with the financial manager with whom I questioned & grilled also about everything...

The bottom line is I WAS LIED TO by the salesman and manager of this so called FOUR STAR dealership...Regardless of my mistake of believing and being falsely persuaded and not seeing the truth in writing and the high price I pay each month for it...I'm not the one walking around lying and blinding innocent people into financial hardship to get my monthly star, plaque & commission. And other people need to know the truth.

You're either part of the problem or part of the solution.  Whichever, the truth is written for others to know.

What did the WRITTEN agreement you SIGNED say?

#8Consumer Suggestion

What a person says means absolutely nothing.  All that matters is what the written agreement you signed said.  You read the agreement BEFORE signing it, right?  Then you know exactly what kind of lease you have.  The agreement will state the allowed mileage and how much overages cost.

You claim that you and your husband were there all day and night TALKING to sales people, did you bother to READ what you were agreeing to?

If not, the fault lies with YOU.
