LeeAnn Rost operating as PawPatch Kennels, Pawpatch Puppies and toycuties.com sold us a 16 week old female yorkie puppy with a congenital spinal deformity. We had this puppy for less than 12 weeks before she died. The last 7 of these weeks this little puppy was paralyzed and incontinent. We did notify LeeAnn about the puppies condition the minute we found out. She did agree to replace her in the event of her death. We did try to save the puppy with a $3,100.00 spinal surgery that didn't work.

Now that the puppy has passed LeeAnn has decided to not abide by her own contract which clearly states that she (LeeAnn) guarantees the puppy to be healthy at the time of sale or she (LeeAnn) will either replace the puppy or refund the money. Since this puppy's health issue was congenital (born with it) the puppy was not healthy at the time of sale. Therefore, this puts LeeAnn in breech of her own contract/guarantee. Even after knowing this herself (LeeAnn) she still refuses to make good on her word.

I had complete legal recourse! Attorney guaranteed!

I absolutely had the law on my side, our attorney guaranteed it. The reason we did not take this to court is because our attorney told us we would have to hire another attorney in the state of Texas, where LeeAnn lives, to file and complete the lawsuit. This would be time consuming and expensive. He also told us we would DEFINITELY WIN a judgment against her and that she would most likely NEVER pay it. He told us we had already lost enough money to this woman and didn't want to see us lose anymore. (We had lost close to $5,000.00 by this time.) He suggested instead that I make my story know to as many people as possible, which is exactly what I have done. As for LeeAnn Rost claims of slander, well slander is only slander if it's NOT true. In this case every word I have spoken is completely true and accurate. I have documented proof of it, which include vet and surgeon statments & letters, medical records, phone records and emails! I will share all my documents & info with anyone who is interested. Please think twice before buying a puppy from her, especially if you live out of her state. LeeAnn does not answer her phone or emails after your purchase and chasing her down is a real chore. You have to threaten her with showing up on her door step to get a response. Please beware of her and find another reputable breeder to purchase your puppy, there are some great ones out there, but she is not one of them.

LeeAnns rebutal is laughable. First of all I have documented proof ( including phone records & medical records)that shows she was contacted about this congenitally sick puppy well before any surgery took place and so does the BBB of Fort Worth, in which there is a complaint against her. After I and the Vet made her aware of the spinal birth defect she agreed to replace the puppy. We then contacted her again to let her know there was a spinal surgery that might possibly be able to save the puppy and we would try that first. She permitted and agreed for us to do it and was elated! LeeAnn was so thrilled that we were willing to have this $3100.00 surgery for a puppy that we had only owned for less than 6 weeks, because she had nothing to lose if all went well. LeeAnn claims she didn't receive info about the puppy's condition, however she was privy to all proof of this congenital spinal deformity including letters, phone calls and info from our vet and surgeon before and after the surgery. This puppy had a severe hemivertebrae that can be hereditary in yorkies, it can also be caused by inbreeding. The effects of this deformity tend to surface between 4-6 months of age due to this period being when the spine grows the most. Unfortunitly the puppy did not make it even after the surgery. Although LeeAnn had already promised to replace the puppy in the event of her death she decided not to abide it, therefore breaking her own contract of health as well as her promise of replacement or refund. We did have to put the puppy down after the surgery because she was in so much pain as the spinal deformity was twisting her ribcage and crushing her lungs. This little puppy could no longer breath properly and was having episodes of passing out. Our vet told us she was dying from her deformity and there was nothing left to do, while praising us for what we had already done. LeeAnn Rost has no integrity, dignity or respect. She is, in my opinion, the owner of a puppy mill, as her home and kennel were kept in complete filth with dogs being stuffed and kept in outdoor runs filled with feces and weeds. LeeAnn cares nothing about these animals, they are only a source of income for her. She never once asked for this sick puppy back, and she knows it. That statment is just a blatant lie as is most of her statments. I will provide all documents, letters from doctors, medical records and reports, emails and phone records to anyone who would like to see them. Please beware of this breeder and if you do chose to purchase a puppy from her, God forbid you have any health issue! And just for the record, I have no small children... My kids are 18 and 12 and I have no idea why she keeps saying that or even why that's an issue. My children having nothing to do with this puppy's medically documented congenital spinal deformity.

I am LeeAnn Rost, owner/operator of PawPatch Kennels/toycuties and have been raising toy dogs-most specifically Yorkshire Terriers for close to thirty years. I have maintained a good reputation and am proud of my facilities and of my dogs. This report given is not accurate. This Yorkie puppy was purchased in July. I let the puppy go with these people still owing a small amount of money on her. I did receive the rest of the money(about $90) a few weeks later. Ms. Fendislaw claims the puppy was ill at the time of purchase, yet I heard NO complaints the first few weeks AND she sent the payment, which makes no sense if they were having problems with the puppy. This puppy was four months old at the time of purchase and showed no problems of ill health. I did not hear from the Fendislaws until October-almost 3 months AFTER the purchase, when I was informed that this puppy was having issues with a spinal deformity. I offered to replace the puppy with proof of congenital cause but was told they did not want a replacement. They did inform me they were going to do a surgery on the puppy and wanted to keep her. If they would have opted for the replacement at this time, I would have asked for prove of the congenital deformity and asked for them to return the puppy immediately, which is part of my policy. A few weeks after this phone call I started getting nasty emails from them. They said the puppy had died after this surgery and wanted me to replace the puppy AND pay for the surgery. I asked them to send me a copy of the vet's statements. Initially they would not do this, wanting me to call their vet. I finally received a copy from their vet after they had sent it to the Better Business Bureau-and BB forwarded it to me. The vet statement showed they had actually had this surgery done in September-BEFORE they ever even contacted me of a possible problem-hence voiding my health contract. This was also when I found out the puppy did not die, but was put down. I never had a chance to take this puppy to my own vet to verify any problems or the origins of the problem(the Fendislaws do have a young son.) The Better Business Bureau report is closed. The Fendislaws have no legal recourse because I have done nothing wrong. I do abide by my health guarantees and have MANY very happy customers.

If you are not LeeAnn Rost aka LeeAnn Vanderpol of Venus Texas then this was not about you! There are many kennels with the same name throughout the US

This report was about a breeder Named LeeAnn Rost aks LeeAnn Vanderpol. If this is not your name and you do not live in Venus Texas, then this was not about you. There are many, many kennels going by the same name throughout the United states. I would suggest changing your kennel name to avoid being confused with this kennel. This kennel/breeder is bad news and sold a puppy with a congenital spinal deformity (possible inbreeding issue) and refuses to make good on her health guarantee which intitles the purchaser to either a new puppy or a full refund.
