Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I visited Leikin to have my (new to me) used 2009 C 300 Mercedes looked over from a side shop I bought it at.

I purchased the A1 service (oil/filter etc and then asked for and a list of options for repair when I was ready). At that time I was told the battery was too small for my vehicle because it was the wrong size. I said the next time I brought it in (for light and mirror replace, I would put a new battery in). They only did the oild change and check over, claiming that nothing else was 'imperative'.

Second visit. Car won't start within just a couple of days of buying the car. Was told iby Leikin it could be a key (we only had one). So we quite happily purchased a key. Knowing it might not fix it.

Then, a day later when that didn't fix it, we were told it was a number of things, the battery (I told them to replace and they actually bawlked with concern as it was $241. for the quote but I still said pleasde change out battery), at that time I ordereed the rim fixed by body shop and mirror replaced (with a part we had already). Fog light too but dealer we got it from gave us wrong part.

They called for a steering column lock. It was 'failing'? But were told it was part of ignition (since we have car repair experience and mentioned that it sounded like ignition failure). That did not fix the car.

Within just 24 hrs, we had to drop off car again for starting issue and was told after 24 business hours that the problem was not duplicatable. We have been able to duplicate it 2 dozen times in a day at home. So, we know something is wrong. We asked Leikin dealer to keep it longer. They said ok but only twice have they repeated and the code calls for EIS. But we were told that the egnition was part of the steerging column lock already. But now it needs EIS, but because it's intermittent we can pick up the car (just wait 7 seconds for the car to acknowledge the key and then it will start).

We are confused and exhausted. Spent over $900 on steering lock we were told failed but tech admitted was working when he removed (because "it was easy to drop down and out"). Now we are even being told that it is fine. Just wait the 7 seconds for the car to acknowledge the key before it will start. We were also told that 'now that the weather was getting warmer it was starting better'?

I was 'sadly' told by my Leikin techinician 'Ray' that 'he'll just add it to his bucket' and 'he would work on it and hopefully fix it and get it out of her'.

It doesn't sound like he knows what he is doing or that he is very motivated to find the 'correct problem'. In this industry fixing it right the first time is very important to a customer (and whether it's customer pay, or warranty, it shouldn't matterm the tech should care).

Dealership said come and get it because it's just that you have to wait 7 seconds for key to be recognized.... It happens in some cars...including the service reps!? Waiting, waiting waiting for my car to pull up in front of the office and after 5 mins (I know what's going on) the same dealer which can barely duplicate the problem, can't start my car! So- we still have a problem, like I've been telling them. All week they could only duplicate twice? At home it's dozens of attempted starts. At the store, in the garage... And finally I'm told it's weather related now? (Stick thank you for your lengthy and in depth email of concern, as I am new to this site, and only found it this week looking for info on a hunch they are ripping me off- I found a Volvo complaint... So I don't know how to give you the info you want. Car is stuck there this morning. I do not have any paperwork. I did not buy it from them. Yes I only want a positive result. Not replaced parts for nothing at my expense. How do I communicate with you for those iteams you need? I want my money back for the part they put in (that worked still and that we did not need but "was replaced because that's usually what part causes that problem". I generally enjoy giving only positive reviews, I've been in customer service for over 30 years and have known cars quite well for about 20 years. This is all quite ridiculous. I've also filed a BBB complaint against the company I bought the car from because clearly the car was an used by owner at TKP, never checked over or ever changed oil as he drove it back and forth to Florida for his 'business' down there. Supposedly he was a 40 year Mercedes vet in servicing them in the US and Croatia. Really? He allowed this car to be sold? Visibly the car was clean, the Carfax was great! Undercarriage is spotless engine sound. Precious Owners took care to keep up with services, only let dealers work on it. Seemed like a good egg. Mercedes tech isn't sure what the problem is, then he should seek help. No I haven't talked to the service manager, but I'd love to.

Amber  I completely understand your frustrations after buying our cities you expect to enjoy the privilege of driving a great machine because I've had many of them and I know what you're expectations are.  I've had a Mercedes Benz 500 SL which was a great pleasure to drive   I had a Mercedes-Benz CL 500 coupe that was a great machine is well and I've had many Mercedes-Benz diesels in the past    I did on a 2002 Mercedes-Benz C 240  which was a nice little car and a very fuel-efficient car I might add it a great pleasure to drive that declare car only cost me $40 a month to own from the time I bought it at the time I sold it and how much money I spent on repairs ..

Let's start by asking a couple questions I would like to know the salesman's name and the person that you've been working with in the  Service department I will do what I can to work with the dealership in a constructive way to find a way to resolve the issues regarding this particular car that you bought.   I would like to ask you a couple of questions

1.  How many miles are on the car ?

2   Do they have any service history regarding that car at the dealership ?

3.   Have you talked to the service manager regarding the issues you've been having with the car ?

4.  Did you buy an extended warranty for the car  ?

5.   Before you bought the car did you go and do a thorough walk around to see if there was any visual abuse by the previous owner?  Things like worn out carpet were the drivers feet are ?  Sounds like the car was abused by the previous owner .

6  have you talk to the general manager of the dealership to express your concerns ?

7.  How's the sales department or the service department told you anything about the history of the car like a Carfax maybe a little bit about the preview show her where it was bought originall,  just kind of an overall history regarding the car..  if they get it from an auction?

Amber I do appreciate the fact that you're not trying to be negative when you posted your report just trying to get the issues resolved regarding the car.  Sometimes when people do postings they are very negative regarding every aspect of what they're complaining about or they're just trying to get something for free and a lot of businesses really work hard to try to satisfy the customers I get this I was in the auto industry for many years and I've been an expert witness for several lawyers regarding automotive dealer issues .   Make no mistake I've stood up for many dealerships that have done nothing wrong I've always tried to help resolve issues in a constructive  and positive way because you get so much further down the road that way.

No I'm willing to work with you and the dealership staff to try to resolve  The issues that you're currently having with the car no I know that you understand you bought a used car and no use car is going to be perfect for that matter many new cars are not perfect.  No matter where the dealership got the car it's hard for them to predict the troubles that you might have after you purchase it .

So now let's take some time and get a little information back-and-forth and I'm going to touch base with the dealership and see if there's a way that we can find out what it's gonna take to get  these issues resolved in a constructive and positive manner.   Can you do me a favor and post the vehicle identification number of your car year and any other history or information about the car.   Here's what I'm going to need

 What year is the car

How many miles does the car have

 Vehicle identification number

Please look at your sales documents and post the deal number it's on the contract DEAL NUMBER

The stock number somewhere on the contract there is a dealer stock number assigned to that vehicle

The salesman's name that you bought the car from

The date of purchase when you bought the car.

Did you buy an extended warranty

Amber let's work together as a team and see what we can do to resolve the issues regarding your car because I do really want you to enjoy the experience of a sweet Mercedes.  So please I'm looking forward to you responded to my post and I will get to work and see what I can do for you.

No car dealership or any other business likes to have a lot of negative complaints on the Internet I get that and I believe that you're trying to work in a constructive manner to get this issue resolved it it will be a pleasure of me calling the dealership today and see what I can do to resolve these issues please provide the information that I requested.

The founder of this website knows me very well and knows that I try to work with anyone that feels they're having some serious issues and resolve the issues.  It's still way early in the morning in my town but what's the dealership opens I will definitely give them a call I'm hoping that you post some information that I'm asking for as soon as possible so while you're reading this stop reading it for a second go to your car and get all of your documents pertaining to the cardio and return your computer and start posting that information so I can get busy and help you remember  we will get much further if we stay focused on the issue at hand and work together hand-in-hand in a positive manner with the dealership to resolve these issues sometimes problems like this are so simple to solve once the problem has completely been identified.

So let's get busy and get the job at hand taken care of

I hope you have a great day I look forward to your posting
