As the President of Linen World, I have not seen this before, however, in reading, I think it is important to consider the source and look at the whole story.
I did some research and found the following:
In February 2009, we would not ship Cheryl in WV a kit on a pre-paid debit card for $29.95 because we had no source of recourse in the event she did not follow thru with a her first show. (note that we require a credit card, not a debit
card, to ship a kit).
Cheryl insisted that she wanted to work with us. Initially, we sent her catalogs and order forms (at no charge) to do a book show to earn her kit. A month later, she did not complete the book show, but, still wanted to obtain a kit. To give her that opportunity, we allowed her to obtain a kit for $99 security deposit (+ $29.95) shipping. Upon completion of either $250 in sales OR returning our kit if Linen World was not for her, we would reimburse her $99 security deposit.
This is her complaint (no changes have been made to the spelling or grammar) this company wouldn't take my credit card they said they couldn't verfity my address. So my husband paid with his credit card and they could verfity our address but his card has a different address and they took his card and the busieness was in my name. and my email address was differnent from my marry name they couldn't accept it. So he paid forme to stay this business
Linen World made MULTIPLE attempts (report available) to communicate with Cheryl in 2009 & into 2010 to review what was happening with her business. At any time, Cheryl was welcome to either complete $250 in sales OR simply return our merchandise (she had received over $250 in sample items) and her $99 would have gladly been refunded. We made no less than 10 contact attempts to help Cheryl with her business. On the last call, she hung up on us and no further communication has been heard from her since July 2010.
Note that Linen World never received a single payment from Cheryl for orders. She submitted two small individual orders in April 2009, however, both were sent without payment and out attempts to communicate with her went unreturned.
I invite anyone else to contact me directly with any questions. I am confident the information above explains the situation in greater clarity.
Thanks!
