I received a check for $3,800.00 in the mail along with a letter that advised me that I was a winner of a lottery for a larger prize of $38,000.00. All I had to do was deposit the check (which was used to pay for the applicable TAX on my winnings). Then call the claims agent for further instructions on further finalize my claim. I was also asked to keep the claim number confidentially secured until the claim prize had properly been processed. I know right away that this was way too good to be true. Besides, I don't remember entering any lottery so I had my husband to call the number that was provided in the letter. The person on the other end, according to my husband just answered, "hello". There was no professional greeting and he could explain the protocal of the winning either. To add insult to injury, I took the check to my local bank and asked them to confirm the validity of the check. The bank confirmed it was a fake. Well, you the old saying, "if it is too good to be true, it probably is. I hope no has fallen for this scam!!
