After giving an estimate of $1595 ended up paying $2300 for an engine rebuilt in May 2013. When I asked then to give me a receipt on all the accessory parts they supposedly installed they said they couldn't because they send some parts to a different mechanic to get then fixed and they don't get a receipt I knew they hadn't done a good job because my car kept shaking, the owner Rafael said there was nothing wrong with the engine, that it was some other parts which I got fixed, and it continued shaking anyways. 7 months later my check engine light goes on. On February 2014 I get stopped by the police, who gave me a ticket because all of the sudden there was a lot of white smoke coming out from the muffler. I went to Auto Zone to check the engine light, they said it was a vacuum leak inside the engine. I called Lone Star Engine and Rafael (the owner) answers my call, I told him what was going on and he said that my warranty should cover the repair. I told him that I was going to call him on the week to schedule a day to get my car towed because I couldn't drive it anymore because all the smoke coming out. I told my husband, and he though it was too good to be true since on May they didn't care about my car shaking. He said there was no point of getting our Expedition towed if they were going to tell us something different when we got there. My husband decided to call a friend and get it checked so that he could verify that it was an engine problem. The mechanic did verify it, there was a problem with the engine. So my husband decided to call Lone Star engine and tell them exactly what was wrong, and hopefully schedule a day for towing. Once again Rafael answered the phone, and he told my husband a totally different story: he said that he could get it checked and was going to charge him at least $500 depending on the repair. My husband asked him if the warranty didn't cover it and Rafael said " NO YOUR WARRANTY ISNT VALID ANYMORE BECAUSE THE COMPANY GOT SOLD OUT". My husband told him that he recognized his voice, that he knew he was Rafael the owner. Rafael said: "Yes its me Rafael, but I sold out my company already and I'm only going to be working here for the next 3 months.(It makes me think: how can you sell your company and still work for them?) That's when we noticed that it had been a total loss of our money. But I'm still trying not to give up, so I have been trying to contact Rafael so that he can clarify what he had told me about warranty covering up repair and 4 days later denying it to my husband. I have called him several times, I always get put on hold and then they just say his busy, with a customer, out for the rest of the week or doing a test drive. Rafael hasn't answered the phone any more since the day he spoke to my husband. Its a lady or a guy who answer the phone, and I always ask to speak to RAFAEL THE OWNER, and they never tell me that he isn't the owner any more. They just ask me for my name and tell me that he's going to return the phone call, and he never does. I cant really go all the way over there because its hard with one car(our second car) having to drive my husband to work, and my daughters to and from school, and myself to work. Its so sad how they just take our money and never think about the way it affects customers, having their car broke down. Hopefully by doing this complaint I can get this resolved. Thank You.
