Longmont Athletic Club (LAC) Tried to cancel THREE times; They're STILL billing me! Longmont Colorado
After my husband was a member of the Longmont Athletic Club for one year, he tried to cancel his membership as we were moving out of state. He went there in person in 8/04 and a staff member told him that she would take care of it. We still get billed.
He calls on 12/08/04 and talks to Laura Richardson. She tells him that his cancellation must be in writing, so he sends her a fax 12/10/04. We still get billed.
We explain the situation to the credit card company and they reverse the charges and block any additional charges. We still get billed: we get a letter from ABC Financial, dated 1/26/05 stating that they collect the bills for LAC and we owe them for December, January and February (like idiots, we paid for Sept., Oct., and Nov.)! We've tried to cancel three times and they still want us to pay for Feb! And we haven't even lived in that state for over three months.
My husband calls them and explains the situation. ABC Financial refers us back to Laura Richardson at LAC. She tells my husband she never received his cancellation fax. He sends another one on 2/2/05. She sends us a fax the next day stating that the notice won't take effect for 30 days IF we pay off the balance. If we don't pay for the last three months, she won't cancel the account and will forward the balance to collections! Don't make the same mistakes we did with this company. Think twice before joining this club.
