Edwards construction has cost us every penny we have. Manuel Gutierrez and his crew were hired to do a full remodel on a home, but instead destroyed our house and disappeared with all of our money. The little work that was done was not only poor, but some was flat out dangerous. They are handymen in over their heads at best, but more likely, they are dangerous con artists looking for people to take advantage of.

We hired Edwards at the recommendation of Juliana Boschman of Beyond Interior Design in Dallas. She insisted that Manuel and Edwards were reputable and that she would be our "go between" offering not only interior design, but helping to manage the job. From the beginning she rarely showed up at the site, and typically only when we called her to complain. We realized early on that we would need to take our own lead on the job and that she had misrepresented herself and Edwards construction.

Manuel Gutierrez, the owner of Edwards, is supposed to be a general contractor, but he also, was rarely on the job to check the work that his "workers" were performing. Typically, Manuel and his brother would stop by, make some excuses and sit in their truck and talk on the phone. Never did I see him lift a finger of his own at the site.

Manuel's workers are basically a handful of unskilled laborers. The only thing they are skilled at is doing just the right amount of work to receive a draw check. Once the demolition was done, everything slowed down to a crawl. Manuel would begin begging for a check and say that the job would be done once he could get some money flowing. We made the mistake of trusting him.

After receiving a large draw check, Manuel disappeared and pulled all of his crews. Once we came in and checked the work that had been done, it was absolutely incredible. The sheetrock was literally sliding off of the walls. The cabinets were half installed in order to look as though they were in progress. Electrical and plumbing outlets were rigged to look as though they were working, but in fact there was no plumbing or electricity behind them.

They had sprayed insulation into the furnace, and had we not noticed it, we surely would have had a fire. The entire back portion of the roof that they built was literally not secured to the joists of the house. I could actually lift that portion of the roof with my hand!!!!!!! One good wind and any member of my family could have been seriously injured or worse. These are not exaggerations. This man destroyed our house and put our family in danger.

They damaged almost every item they worked on and we have had to pay to redo everything they have done. It has cost us a fortune.

In the end, they left us with a house with no working plumbing, no electrical, no cabinets. They ruined everything, and they abandoned the job.

We had a $400,000 that was move in ready. After Manuel and Edwards Construction left, we had a $200,000 house that is not habitable. I cannot even begin to calculate what this man has cost my family.

We later found out that he has done this to others. I also have found that the state certifications on his website are false, and I verified this with the National Association of Home Builders. Do not hire this man or his company.

I am a General Contractor as well and I made the mistake of referring Manuel Gutierrez and Edwards Construction to a client who needed to finish building his 5000 ft2 house. Problems were numerous from the start, and in the end, he and his crew ended up not finishing the job and stealing several large flat screen televisions from the house.

I have also worked with several different sub-contractors who have had horrible experiences with Manuel Gutierrez as well. They all had similar stories; they would do the work then he would not pay them. I was told his mantra was, "I've got to pay myself first."

Stay away from this company.
