We are Big Yankee Fans and as we all know the Yankees won the world Series and the newly elected Mayor Bloomberg invited the public to a "Parade of Champions" We decided to go. Husband, Wife and two teenage childern. We live in Pennsylvania and the morning of the parade we got up, and dressed in our Yankee outfits at 4A.M. we drove from Dingmans Ferry PA. to Dover N.J about a 50 mile trip. We had breakfeast and bordered the train around 7:30.  We arrived in Penn Station around 8:40, purchased a Metro Card took the train downtown to Chambers Street. It was about 9A.M. Plenty of time to walk two blocks and get a good spot to see the Champions.

We walked one block straight towards the parade that was on Broadway, which was two blocks away. The first  thing we noticed was baracades, as far as we could see in both directions. Police were everywhere, great protection. The reality set in that all the police were there not for potection but the reason was not to let people into the parade area. They said you cannot come this way you have to walk about six blocks north, they will let you in at that location go one block up and then walk back the six blocks south to the parade This was a lie told on every corner!

There were thousands of people doing this walk, IT WAS A PARADE OF FANS!! Every time we walked to the destination told to us by the police, we were sent to the next block down, next block, next block, closer and closer to Canal Street. Further and further from the parade. My Wife and daughter had to use a bathroom. There was not one bathroom avaible for the public, along this cattle drive of fans, which was well planned because the barracades WERE ALREADY SET UP TO DO THIS!!! The police walked us around in circles. Before we knew it, it was 11 o'clock and we were nowhere near the parade and no hopes of getting near it! People were urinating everywhere. Men and women I am not exaggarating here. We heard later a women did get arrested for urinating in public but I do not know how true this is.

We gave up about 11:30 walked to a Chinese resturaunt on Canal street and ate lunch to use the bathroom and made our trip back home. Awful !!! Never seen the Parade, or a public bathroom, we even asked the police, wheres a bathroom, we told to go to the train station many blocks away. We walked our butts off directed by the police. We were the "PARADE OF FANS" I am angry at Mayor Bloomberg and the City Of New York, for doing this to me and my family I traveled far, spent over $200.00 on our commute and feel nobody in NYC cared especially the Mayor about our plight, all Mayor Bloomberg wanted to do was bring the fans into the area to spend there money in the local buisness, which you had to do to use a bathroom!!! We will never go to New York as a tourist again and will tell anyone who will listen to us about how we got treated and what we seen. We don't treat people like that here in Pennsylvania!!

SHAME ON YOU MAYOR BLOOMBERG!!!
