I was contacted by MCI telemarketing pitching there new MCI neighborhood plan.

The representative asked the typical questions (how much I was spending on long distance ect...) and then explained that I would save substantial money if I signed on to their plan.

Having been a previous MCI cutomer many years ago and being less that thrilled with their prior performance I fired off my own barrage of questions to make absolutely sure I understood the details of their service agreement.

Being satisfied with there response, I agreed to switch to the MCI neighborhood plan.

I was told that it could take up to three weeks before the switch.

Within a week I received mail from MCI welcoming me to there neighborhood plan, but after three weeks the switch had not completed.

When calling MCI and asking about the status my account I was told that there was a processing error and my order was cancelled.

I then asked what the type of error would cause this cancellation and was then told that a representative would investigate and call me within 72 hours.

After 72 hours had passed and never receiving any call back I called MCI once again and received the same response as the prior call.

After expressing my complete disatisfaction with MCI's handling of this matter I told the representative that unless I received an immediate confirmation date when the service would commence I would be cancelling my order.

I was then told that the best they could is for me to apply again and processing could take a few weeks.

My abbreviated reply was that they could take their MCI neighborhood and stick it.....!!

Since I was never given an explanation for this complete waste of time, the only reasonable explanation for this would be a bad credit check.

Fortunately my credit history is impeccable, so I'm guessing that in there zeal to sign up another sucker they sold me a plan which was not yet available in my area and did not call to inform me of their error.

Unless you like living in a neighborhood with thieves, incompetents and con artists, I suggest you do what I should have done and hang up when you hear the words MCI calling.
