Been paying for state employees health insurance for 25 years. Medco manages the pharmacy benefit. They are denying coverage for a chemo drug for my cancer because it is not "preferred treatment." Asked if I needed a prior approval or if it was a case where a more inexpensive generic drug was available. Was rudely told Kask your HR person about that. I can't answer that. I can't tell you that." After going through 3 reps and over an hour of verbal abuse, they then say, "oh, we cover that but it will cost you $200" I asked how they justified such a high copay and received no answer except, "I can't give you that information."
Now I have to go beg a charity for help to pay for this med. I guess their preferred treatment would be that I just give up, go away, and die. So now, along with battling cancer, I have to deal with the stress of having to find some way to afford the care I need. Medco makes the Fortune 500 profit list on the backs of cancer patients to by refusing life saving care. Their should be a special place in hell for Medco for causing such incredible stress all to save a few hundred bucks. The Devil is alive and well and doing business in New Jersey.
